Heated Seats

Post by Grant » Tue Jul 08, 2003 1:32 pm

Been a wee bit cool here lately and I got to thinking heated seats would be
rather nice. Anybody modified their (leather) seats with the addition of a
heated insert and if so, where did they get them from?

Jeez, southern man - heated seats. Why doesn't this sound right?

Mmmmm heated seats. Also known as "Haemorrhoid Grill" ;-)
Standard on most cars back home in Norway... then again it gets down to -30
in the winter there.

I wired my heated seat insert in to the terminal between the one for the cocktail cabinet and the one for the DVD player.

I have removed the cup holders, cocktail cabinet and dvd, but draw the line
at cold seats. Got to have some creature comforts. At least I can and am
still driving around with the roof down.
Had a good trip to Kaikoura and back last thursday. Couldn't put the roof up
on the way home in the dark though, as the temperature was too low. Didn't
want to split the vinyl. The jacket, possum fur lined hat and the heater on
made for quite a pleasant drive home. Just thought warming the whole of my
body would nice!

Grant, Duetto motors have them for US$90 see
http://www.duettomotors.com/ I thought about getting them a few years
ago, when I bought my leather seats, but it doesn't get cold enough up
here (I'm still driving top down everyday in my t-shirt) Maybe Blenheim
is colder than Auckland.;-) Cheers Chic On Tue, 8 Jul 2003 13:32:50

Thanks, Chic.
I emailed Duetto and for a set of two single temperature heaters (I better
get one for the passenger as well) the cost is $US169.95 plus freight of
$US49.95. Total therefore of $NZ379.00 at $0.58 cents to the dollar. At this
cost there probably won't be any GST to pay.
Unfortunately Duetto won't take any overseas credit card so payment has to
be by bank cheque or money order in US Dollars.
Yes it is colder here, but it's also drier! I prefer dry and cold than warm
but wet.
Grant in sunny Blenheim where it's warm enough today to not need the
heaters.

I too, open top around sunny but sometime cold Marlborough but have not yet
resorted to wimping out with the heated seats option. Oh no, I merely dived
into my redundant bag of motorcyling paraphernalia (circa 1979/82) for my
electric sox, electric vest & electric gloves. Works a treat!
Now, who's the wimp...

I mention that I drive my MX5 everyday but I didn't take my tonneau cover
off at all in June (not even once) and that the roof has only been up
twice in July?
