Hi, FYI final feedback from LTSA on the amendment:
The points noted by you and your clubmembers have been discussed here, and
it was felt that the wording we forwarded for comment covered the concerns
expressed - we would not ask a WoF inspector to assess whether or not a
rollbar/stylebar is likely to bend in a rollover and come into contact with
the occupant's head; by adopting the proposed threshold into the VIRM, the
LTSA takes the position that, provided the bar is situated in or behind the
stated area, and provided the seats have headrests, the bars are deemed to
be outside the headstrike zone, and therefore do not need padding either.
Thanks again for your assistance on this issue. The new issue of the VIRM,
including the stylebar clarification, will be published shortly.
