re[2]: Injector sizes

I was thinking of using them with a LINK, but now that I've discovered that I'll also need bigger injectors its pushed the total price way past the WAE (Wife Approved Expenditure) limit so unless I can find some very cheap injectors I'll have to take the cheap route and just get a Bipes ACU.

Is this for the JRSC? If so what boost are you planning.

Hi matt.
What boost are you planning to run that you need more
fuel??
You cant use injectors bigger than 250cc if your using
your standard computor on your 1600.It just cant
handle those big injectors when in closed loop mode
such as idle. if you need more fuel then try a set of
1800cc injectors which are 220cc. You can use 440cc
injectors for a link system but be wary of the mitsi
ones as they require differnt injector plugs and the
"nose" of the injector is shorter than the nippon
denso injectors of the mazda, which means the spacers
for the rail have to be modified. What you need for a
link is 1989-92 rx7 non turbo injectors which are
430cc from memory.use turbo 550cc for an 1800.
Do you have a high pressure pump?? what fuel pressure
regulator are you using?? Most guys who go over 7 psi
use the cartech afpr from Flying miata which is more
adjustable than the vortech one.If sticking with the
Vortec then you have to recalibrate the ratio disc
when using a high pressure pump.(From 12:1 to about
8:1). With 1800cc injectors and a high pressure pump
and a cartech afpr the guys in the states are running
10 psi, much over that and a link is the way to go.If
you want a bipes acu then go to
roadsterperformance.com theyre about $200 U.S.
The power mods section at Miata.net is FULL of
questions and answers like yours so youll come up with
the answers you need if i havent been of any help.

My turbo setup that im making up will use a cartec
afpr and a bipes for about 7 psi. ok so thats a grand
but once clutch and diff are upgraded it will take me
to about 10psi which is more than enough.

dude, it's never enough - that's why I want to upgrade! (I swear it's getting slower...;) The nice thing about those Mitsi injectors is that they're low impedance, and *cheap*. A whole set is about the same as 1 fancy RC engineering unit. The low impedance should mean better idle and more flow per cycle due to faster on-time. The 550cc RX7 ones work fine though. BTW - screwed my plate directly to my bumper since it was already mashed up from some no-brain parking person. Looks OK. In fact better than before since the bracket was twisted and crooked from previous parking scuffles ! cheers,Jeff
