(warning - boy racer content ahead!)

Matt

no idea how much power due to a slipping clutch,
distrust of the "before-turbo" dyno results (52kw,
190NM - see the archives) and MiataLinkLab not
working for the power-graph thingy. Hope to get some
of those fixed shortly! Once that's done I'll be
happy to be in the 13's.

Embarassing, nah - some of the Lee-Sang boys (hardcore
petrolheads) were there ... I was faster than
Quentin's 400hp GTX - he couldn't stop wheelspinning!
Warren's EVO was doing mid 13's but at a lower speed!!
Brett's 9 sec EVO was still being put together that
weekend. :( Cool guys, great day.

Haven't quite got around to putting in the brake pads
yet. Lazy me...

Performance Car has their monthly $50 dyno-days at
Torque Performance (W.Akl) if you are up for it.

Jeff,
distrust of the "before-turbo" dyno results (52kw,>>190NM - see the archives)
You mentioned a few weeks ago, that prior to the turbo, you couldn't cruise over the harbour bridge at 100.
Mine does it easily, so maybe your Dyno results WERE correct!!! 52kw = 70Bhp
Did it feel underpowered? It felt fine the time I drove it though!

Have you checked your compression?, was the clutch slipping before?, cam belt not fitted properly?
spark plugs? wires? Have you checked your error codes?

If it wasn't right before, perhaps you have some more horsepower just waiting to be found!

Also I would check out your old results again, Make sure they used the correct ratios etc. It would be a shame not to
have a reliable 'Before' figure...

Cheers
Chic

Jeff,
Already been to one of the "half price" dyno-days at Torque Performance. Thats where I had the pleasure of standing next to my engine while it detonated quite badly (12 year old standard fuel pump couldn't keep up). I ended up getting it dyno'd here in Hamilton after the pump was replaced and discovered that $50 (or less) is what you normally pay down here.

hmm, there must be some kind of Akl markup on it then!! I paid $85+gst for mine, Torque Performance (dynojet) is usually somewhere north of that price too. The Dynapack in Pukekohe is even more I hear.

Matt, you need an air-fuel gauge to monitor your engine... and for amusement on boring drives ;) What pump did you replace it with in the end? (mine is fine with the stock pump and big 550cc RX7 injectors)

Just a FYI... Torque Performance does NOT have a dynojet dyno...(and thus the
HP figures are not directly compareable to most of the figures we see from the
USA).
