The toyos will only last you about 20,000 kms where
the grids will last 45,000 plus. of course the toyos
will stick like the proverbial!
I have tried both 205/50 and 195/50 and the 205's had
a much better ride with not alot of depreciation in
grip and handling, of coure you should really be using
at least a 6.5" wide rim with the 205's

That sounds like a deal! I got the club discount on some
Koni adjustables and they were about $1150 (I think), with
no springs and only 3 height settings. Must admit I was
pretty disapointed when they arrived as I thought they would
be screw height adjustable like some of the ones in the
Japanese magazines for that amount of $$$$. I also thought
for this amount of $$$ they would have a nice podwer coat
finish, but they are just spray painted in yellow which is
peeling in parts before they are even installed.

After they arrived I seriously lost interest, so still
haven't got round to fitting them. By the way has anyone on
the shore got some spring compressors I could borrow in the
new year please.

And whats the price for a set of G3's? I heard they were the
Bomb, a freind of mibe swears by them when he did the Targa
last year (Renault).

Cheers

I bought a set of Grid3's on my last car sometime at the start of this year.
I managed to get them for about $170 incl gst and fitting each (that's was
for 195/50 I think, but definitely R15s) and from what I remember they were
at a discounted price and quite a bit less than retail (retail was
$250???).

So if anybody is interested, that was from Herb Morgan Tyres in Onehunga.

My G3's from Firestone early this year were about $170.00 fitted and
balanced. The set I bought a 18 months before that were the same price. The
roads here are hard on tyres (excellent roads full of bends) and mine lasted
about 35,00km. Good grip, quite quiet and comfortable ride. Great
improvement over the worn out shocks they replaced.
My adjustable Konis fitted a year ago cost just over $1200.00 including
fitting and wheel alignment (and including GST). The paint has not started
to peel off them either.

Don't forget you get 2 free 'Koni Improved' stickers with each purchase.
They add 5hp each. You can get aftermarket coil-over height
adjustment kits to fit the koni's. You pay extra for that though...

I you can find brand new threaded spring perch
adjustables for $1150, id like to see them!! Theyll be
SH*T!
A decent set of threaded adjustables are going to set
you back at least $2500. The best for the MX is probably the TEIN ones.
Ive heard many bad reports about the tokiko shocks and
how they crap out fairly regularly. Konis will LAST
alot longer. Are KOnis the "OH my god" transformation
in handling... well no, but they offer some ride
height adjustability that the KYB AGX dont for the
same money. Ive discovered that the car could use an
increase in spring rate anyway so you could get some
king springs with either KOnis or KYB's but the konis
are better quality.

I must have made a mistake, the tyres I saw on my friends car were dunlops,
I'm sure they were G3's.
