Wohoo what a month its a been, At 115 k on the clock we decided it was time
for a little upkeep.

Had timing belt, water pump, crank and cam seals, idler pulley bearings, aux
belts etc done, total $600 including labour($270}.

Mechanic {rally driver} says you need new shocks and lowered springs so
another $900.00 later {including labour and alignment} I have 30 mill lowered
springs and new kyb shocks.

At the the same time I see advertised some Ray engineering volk wheels ,
15x6.5" 44 mill offset weight 9.5 lbs $300 ono. yikes you joking right?? get
im lol.

Um extra $500.00 well; You see you walk around a lot while waiting for the car
to be finished, my wife upgraded her mobile, $200.00 and at a hunting shop
there was a pump action take down . 22 with silencer, well I have been wanting
one for years, oh and last $100.00 got the smelly cat removed, and replaced
with a um, um chit forgot what its called but by crikey the wee red devil
really flys now .
cheers J&J.

Good effort, you're an inspiration to us all!

I'd love to hear a full review of the new shocks and springs after you've
had a chance to evaluate them properly.

Thomas.

Um... been thinking for a while about doing something to the suspension...
You might be able to convince me on the Whakatane run Sunday if you're
coming Glenn ;-)

Well, The reason I'm so interested in J&J's experience is because I'm
thinking of replacing the springs/shocks in mine.

Well a few things, we did a couple of familiar runs today, over the
rimutakas and also the paikakariki hill, the car is much more compliant,
the suspension really works well, lowering the car gives much less
oversteer on a lifted throttle after going into some corners a little bit
hot, my wife hated that rear of the car trying to get past her thing,we
love it,it is now as quick to drive as my workmates "97 VR ltd with
bilsteins, removing the cat converter has really opened our car up in the
5.5 to 7.5 rpm range, maybe our cat was knackered but car is certainly
quicker in the top range.

If I was to do it again {and probably will} I would buy top class shocks
IE: Bilsteins, konis or Gabriels to go with the lowered springs ours are
30 mill lowered dobisports,

Negatives; the car is now lower than the shopping trolley car park we
walked out of Bunnings superstore in Porirua and walked right past the
car, its also harder to get out of after driving for a couple of hours
LOL.

Cheers
