I hope someone can help with answers to a few questions:
* How much does a set of 4 Koni shocks cost NOT installed?
* Who in Auckland does a great job and how much does installation
cost?
* What are the pros & cons of the different settings on them?
Thanks in advance

Koni Shocks Questions
I think it was zorruno at the AGM who has Koni's on his MX5 & knows a lot
about them. I remember him saying he uses the softest settings except for
track days.
Re installation & the full alignment that is required when the suspension is
disturbed I use Ray Mitchell at Alignment Specialists in Station Rd, Penrose
Ph 579 5246. Very competent indeed. Try Ray for a Koni price as well.

Koni Shocks Questions
hi Bill
I got mine thru the first club group-buy about 2 years back - it was just under $1k. Mx5mania is OZ has pretty keen prices on them as well ... http://www.mx5mania.com/suspension.htm
Installed mine with the help of other club guys, which was great since I redid it another 2 times (changed springs and perch setting). Took me about 6 hours total, should be an hour or less per corner for a shop with air tools.
It's currently on the high perch but with the "low" King springs - clearance is marginal, esp on steep driveways/speedbumps with a passenger.
Seems the height settings are mostly clearance vs aesthetics. Max lowering effect is something like 3/4" or 16mm. The rebound knob was fun for a while, after twiddling for the first year or so I mostly leave it on soft+a couple clicks, much higher and there's too much pummelling by the roads. Max soft is softer than stock, and pretty marshmallow-y. Max hard is best left for the track , and other billiard-table surfaces.
They do a great job of isolating road bumps (eg catseyes) from the body, and I've also noticed the the shock tower brace is less effective now (?) - so I've left that off.
Last time I seriously played with them was at Meremere, where I discovered I need to get some real tyres!
Happy to help anyone DIY install their shocks. Just buzz me.
HTH !
Jeff
