"Will" A little "off topic"
Hi Fellows & Felloweses
I admit that this is slightly off topic, but perhaps you can help me with an automotive oddity or two.
During a trip down the Auckland Motorway this afternoon, I saw, not one, but two, different vehicles, which appear to be made by a company called "Will" a make I have never heard of. These are, with the possible exception of the Fiat Multipla, the most hideously ugly vehicles I have seen in my life!
One was a kind of sport hatch, which appears to have been designed by Darth Vader's tailor, after a particularly bad night on the "turps".
The other defies description, except to say that it must have been conceived during a "minage a trois" between a 105E Ford Anglia, a Citroen 2CV and a 44 Gallon Drum! It has the worst aesthetic qualities of each.
It was called a V1, which of course was also a "flying bomb" a particularly apt name for the vehicle involved.
I'm not really sure that I want to know, but can any one tell me where these come from? If they have anything to do with Mazda, the MX5's for sale!!!
Regards
Eric

Hey Ken... I like the quote from Jobs myself... the free thinking
brigade at Apple have been responsible for the only decent computing
that anyone can have, they also design the stuff to work well AND look
good. And considering the guy also runs Pixar, he makes good sense. Me;
I drive a 92 NZ new MX (with pop ups) and I definitely prefer it over
the later version... and I also drive an Aluminium G$ 15 powerbook.
Reckon the style is right on both. (Have heard rumours that Mazda
rework originals in the factory to bring them up to Mk2 specs while
retaining the original looks of the Mk1. Is it true?

Yes, well I once had a Bulldog and she was beautiful too, but the V1 in
particular has very little to recommend it to me. I just can't see why anyone
would come up with something that looked like that, without a "chemically
assisted" imagination.
But if you know who sold the design to Toyota's management, I have a job for
him. If he can sell that then nothing is impossible!

I actually work for Toyota New Zealand and yes they are definitely a
Japanese invention bought out to NZ and with quite large interest. Yes
I agree Im also proud to be a free thinker and not because I work for
TNZ. Great looking space age type machines which will move into the new
millennium quite easily me thinks.
Thanks

It's my understanding that all NZ stock of these 'cars' has been reserved
for people who wor in Advertising.

I think the VS which is the hatch type one is a great design.Looks a bit
like the Audi TT (sideon) which after 4 years still looks great and
modern.Much better than the latest shape Camry and Diamante which are so
ugly they would scare small children.Ross.

Ok, I'll go along with Ross Campbell that the VS might grow on you, however if
the V1 is the direction of car design in the 21st Century, then at 56 years
old I am glad that the chances of my seeing more than about 30% of it are
slim. In fact, I could almost be tempted to pray for death!
But then, I look to my left as I type this, and through the office window is
the classic shape of an NA MX5, and hope is restored!

other imports. There's a car yard on Great North Road in Auckland that
usually has a few for sale. They have some really interesting cars in
there. They have some of the tiny Daihatsu Copen convertibles and some of
the even smaller Smart cars too.
Last time I was there they had a lovely 99 MX5 in black with a full
Mazdaspeed body kit and lots of other Mazdaspeed goodies.
I was admiring the Will Vs last night. It looked really mean, like some
kind of armoured car. Have a look at http://will-vs.net/g_g/g_g.htm and
you'll see what I mean.
There was the other type parked in the same street, some panels remind me
of corrugated steel, pretty ugly in my opinion.

Must be a hell of a boat trip to get those new millenia cars here...we
still have 3 more years of waiting to get those turn of the century cars) 2007
must be real strange for japanese tourist to see their old cars
everywhere...
In the case of New Zealand (better change that to second hand zealand )
