manfield single car dual car sprints

Post by karlncas » Wed May 17, 2006 4:58 pm

Hi all just letting you all know if you are in the area or feel like a drive
our way Saturday the 27th of this month the is racing on at manfield.

This is a great start for anyone wanting to drive on the track, there will
be single car sprints (timed), dual car sprints if you have a club license
and 6x6 races at the end of the day for those with club licenses.

If you have a soft top you may not be let on the track tho due to msnz rules
requiring at least a half roll cage(homoligated) and if you have a hard top
you will be sweet.

You may need a fire extinguisher in your car, I can confirm this if anyone
is interested.

There is also a class for the drifters on the day so should be a good to
even call out just to watch ( these days are a good watch an no spectator
fees)

You will also need a helmet and at least cotton overalls

$50 bucks will get you on the track and expect between 4 to 6 runs

This event is held by the manawatu car club and you can compete in 3 events
before you have to pay up and join the club.

Please let us know if you are coming out either to compete of to watch, it
will be good to catch up with any of you as there has not been a lot of
"action" in these parts for a while, anyone from out of town is welcome, may
have a spare bed for the first in and arrange accommodation for any one
requiring it

Hi Karl, not wanting to spoil anyone's fun, but if it's a MSNZ sanctioned
event and they are requiring an open car to have a half cage, then they won't
let you run with a fibreglass hardtop in place of the half cage. I think
that's been an issue in the past at Manfield, and elsewhere, that in their
eyes [MSNZ], a clip on hardtop offers no more protection than a fold up soft
top.
Our local Tauranga Mount Motorsport Club won't let you run on the track
without a half cage either, but at the MX5 Club track day [Driver Training
Day, this Saturday at Taupo] it's OK, as are the Playdays the MR2 Club put on
during the year.
Vince.
