Taupo Travellers

Post by RD5T3R » Mon May 08, 2006 11:28 am

Hi Guys
We are delighted to be going to our first driver training weekend in Taupo and
wonder who's up for doing the convoy thing on Fri afternoon? We [sadly] have
to work fri morning and should be able to get away from the Green lane
conference place in Auckland by 1.30 at the latest. Anyone wanna meet up in
the Greenland McDs car park at 2 for a 2.15/2.30 getaway?

Anti BRGers need not reply!!!

Cheers

Taupo Travellers

Post by DBM58 » Mon May 08, 2006 11:34 am

I would like to add that I will be leaving from Burger King, Mount Wellington
at 6am Saturday morning. The intention is to drive to Matamata for breakfast
then on to Taupo.

I think that there will be at least a couple of cars coming along at this
stage.

Hi Martin, et al,
The window runners sit on metal rails that attach to the roof.
Do one side at a time; this will give you a visual reference if you get
a little confused, as I did! Have a look over the entire roof prior to
starting. I, and my darling wife who will read this e-mail, tend to be
"rip-sh*t-and-bust" and by spending a little time looking at things
first off you can save time in the long run. Writing this e-mail took
almost as long as the job, so please don't be put off.

1 Remove the 2 screws, on each side, that hold the front rubbers in
place. These are found along the front of the roof on either side. (Put
them in a plastic bag or ashtray... trying to find a small black screw
on black carpet is a challenge!)

2 Gently pull the rubbers down and off the metal rail.

3, The rails, now visible, are held in place by two screws. On "Betsy" I
found that the runners were as far in (towards the interior) as
possible.

4 Slightly unscrew the bolts and when loose move the rails to the
outermost position and retighten the screws.

5 Refitting the rubber is easy. Slip the rubbers on to the rail and
using a flat head screw driver insert the exterior rubber in to the rail
grove. This sounds a bit confusing but it will make sense, especially
if you check how the rubbers are fitted prior to taking them of our
looking at the side that hasn't been taken off. If you haven't put the
rubber into the groove the rubbers will fall off (as they did for me the
first time). Do the same for the others, when the front rubber is place
put the 2 screws in and hay-presto you're done!

6 Test the roof opens and closes, and then do the other side. I found
the roof was harder to close and needed to release the roof tension. I
also wiggled the rubbers back and forth to get the best fit, as the
first time I had a gap between the front and middle rubbers. Finally I
gave the rubbers as spray with some silicon spray and everything was
fine! The windows now press up to the rubbers and form a tight seal.

Hope this all makes sense. If not drop me a line and I could take some
picture and e-mail them to you.

Cheers

OK guys. I have an electrical problem on the car resulting in my horn not
working.

Normally this is not an issue because being a big bloke, I just yell at people
and that seems to work. However when I mentioned this to the guy at the
testing station he seemed unimpressed (so much for thinking outside the
square) - thus no WOF.

Anyway I was hoping that there was a member on the North Shore who may know
about electrics and was willing to help and have a poke under the hood.

Any help gladly received.

Sorry for the resend (if indeed the other comes thru) - I think the original
was probably grabbed by the spam filter.
