Our NA 1989,, is one of the first to be sold in this country NZ New. Its
in good condition.

The insurance co. want to drop the value down to $4500... but we

have been told because of its "originality" it is actually becoming

collectable, and worth more. Not too sure that we are happy with

the 4500,, What are your thoughts:???

Rich and Robyn.

Sounds like you have a good insurance co.

Most want you to value it high so they can charge more and unless its an
agreed price policy they will always only pay book value on the day if it is
stolen or written off regardless of the real or " percieved " value of the
car.

Hi, was talking to a mini collector/friend and was comparing revs @ 100km/h.
He suggested changing the diff to another with a slightly different gearing
to lower the revs over all the gears. Has this been done?? 4000rpm at just
over 100km/h seems a lot...

taller tyres is the cheapo way! ;) helps to offset the optimistic
speedo as well and makes the car look lowered ... hehe.

We had a Land Cruiser stolen a couple of years back. Insured with NZI.
We dropped the value every year - it was high mileage - and had it at
$9500 when stolen. The insurance payout was $10,500 less a $500 excess
as the assessor decided this was the market value. I think it may be
better to take your company's advice if its insurance is on the same
basis as NZI's, then if the value is more when something happens, the
assessor will determine that. Our 1990 NZ car (119,000km) is insured
for $5000.

I have this discussion annually with AA regarding my pristine 1990 Mazda 626.

We normally finish up with a compromise somewhat above their estimate and
below my value. It is an "agreed" value, so they should negotiate. Talk to
them
