Yep, you're right Roger, when you do the maths - top gear times final drive
ratio -
virtually the same whether 5 or 6 speeder. This link to the MX5 gear ratios

The 6 speeder is a close ratio box, not designed with an overdrive top gear
in mind. Oh well, it was worth taking a look at.
