Soft-top cover (was OK to leave hood down?)

Post by Michael & Kate Cooper » Tue Mar 21, 2006 3:06 pm

Hi Keith

If anyone can tell you who makes soft-top-covers for mX5's then you should
be able to get the beading from there, but sorry I don't know who makes
them. It would help if you stated where you live. My guess would be a
car-upholsterer as there may be similar stuff on the likes of boat covers??

Good luck

Kate

Joan,

Check out:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... /Mazda/Ext
erior/auction-50993485.htm

They have an auction with a buy-now of $180.

Not sure of the quality, but $180 is pretty reasonable. Pity - I
recently sold mine as it no longer fitted with the rollbar.

Good Luck

Soft-top cover (was OK to leave hood down?)

Post by Okibi » Tue Mar 21, 2006 3:45 pm

I think the usual forum price is about $50.

See if Ross has any.

Or try www.mx5mania.com.au , they're making a few NB race cars so won't have
a need for the top covers of those cars.

www.MX5Parts.co.uk are excellent to deal with but they want 175 quid !

Philip Lawson phil@bayarea.net in the US of A has a 10AE cover he no longer
needs.

You could e-mail him and ask how much to ship to you.

- Dave.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Soft-top cover (was OK to leave hood down?)

Post by joanie » Tue Mar 21, 2006 4:39 pm

$50 ? that sounds more like it David. At that price I'd be happy to buy one
and if it doesn't fit when I get the roll bar in I won't be too upset.
Philip Lawson phil@bayarea.net in the US of A has a 10AE cover he no longer
needs.
10AE ? What is that?

Cheers

Be aware that the NA and NB covers are not interchangeable. They use
different fittings.

I have never seen one under $150.00 I got mine about
18months ago for a bit more than that I think. Makes the car
look a lot tidier (is that the correct spelling?? looks
wrong)

I got mine off Trademe for $185 about a year ago. there are a couple on the
list at present.
Make sure you go for the right one for your car, 89 - 97 NA (small catches),
or 98 - 05 NB (4 large and 5 small catches)
Just keep watching the Trademe listings.
