After market alloy wheels - Turbo intercooler

Post by poison » Sat Mar 18, 2006 6:51 pm

Wow Anthony

Nice car, some nice work done there indeed.can I just ask about your
intercooler. Did you have to get rid of the A/C and PS to fit the pipes? What
is the intercooler off? Did you do the IC fitting yourself, I am not sure if I
should attempt it myself or not. Are you Auckland based? And if so, did you do
a dyno tune? and who did that? I want to find someone familiar with the Miata
Link software.

Where in the power did the cam grind make a difference?

Cheers

Hi Gazza,

Thanks for the compliment.

Intercooler is off a Nissan Pulsar GTiR. For fitting, use silicone joiners
along with either stainless or aluminium piping which can be obtained from
local pipe bender's scrap bin. There was no 'need' to remove the A/C & PS for
my setup but I like the extra room available in the engine bay but necessary
removal will depend on the placement of your turbo's compressor outlet.

In regards to the Link, with a wideband 02 sensor, you can tune it yourself.

The cams make a difference from 4500rpm upwards extending the factory
powerband making it come on stronger.

Best regards,

Anthony

Hi, I just fitted the new Bridgestone MY01 which were recommended as a new
version of the G III. They have a thicker outer side tread than the GIII'
s.Was told Bridestone are doing a kind of introductory price and I picked
them up for $135 each after shopping around in Wellington. (highest price
$165)
Seem fine.
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Anthony

Thanks for that, thought I knew the name, but hadn't put 2 and 2 together, I
bought a set of your 330cc injectors off TradeMe.

Be good if you could post some close up photo's of the turbo and intercooler
piping on your car domain as this is the nightmare in my books, and always
good to get some idea's.

Keep up the good work

Right on NINA!!!
T1-R's rock!!!
The t1-r and the goodyear GSD3 are great tyres if
you want great grip and good ride but the trade off is
that you will only get about 30,000k's on them.
The GSD3 are about $220 Ea and the toyos you can
get much cheaper at around $180EA (205/45/16
comparison) so the toyos are great value even if they
dont last as long as say a GIII even .
The Bridgestones...well what can i say, i had GII's
on my car and they were NASTY HARD and crap ride...
i think they were designed to be used on a heavier
car. get them at your peril.
I have a friend who was a Bridgestone Rep and he said
that the MYO1 was brought into the country to try and
get back some of the market that they lost to all the
cheap crappy federals and Nankangs.
They are no way a "premium" tyre but they are ok for
touring/mileage, and are better quality than the
aforementioned Federal/Nankangs.
The C-drives kinda fit somewhere between the T1-r/GSD3
and the bridgestones. They have better grip than a
GIII but not as much as a T1-R/GSD3.But beware of the
price they can get $$$$$$$$$.

For me the choice is simple... The T1-R's can be
discounted more than any of the others so you can get
a great deal on them, it cancels out the fact that
they may not last as long as the others. They take a
bit to get used to if youve been on hard tyres as they
are a bit "squishy" but you soon get used to it.
