I'm picking up my newly-purchased 90 MX-5 tomorrow. I'm interested in
what the "minor mods" are that have made such a difference.

Dave asked what the "mionor mods" were...
Its all done on a shoestring around here,,,, but it makes it interesting.
Most expensive part was putting some good rubber on it... went to
205/50/15... (just listen to the howls of protest THAT will start), and we
find it is wonderful to drive,,,,,,,, dont need to slow down for corners...
just point it and around she goes.
Then, put a rear and front strut brace on her,,, then the style bars.
They are really on for looks, but it still tightens her up a bit more.
Next, and most important, we did a homer.. to improve the cold air
induction. Incredible what a difference a funnel, and some bendy hose
makes... I didnt want to let him loose under the bonnet to do it, but
obviously, he must've known what he was doing,,,,,, cos it sure makes a big
difference. So thats about it really... a joy to drive,,,,,and play in.
Lets here it for an original manual MX5. You can keep your NC's,,, have
driven one a few times...and dont like it. It has lost the hard assed
sports car feeling.
Anyway,,,,,, good luck with your new car Dave,,,,,,,,

WAF - love it!
Is there a WAF scale? Like, 1 = very acceptable and 10 = "No way baby!"
My thoughts at the moment are to live with and enjoy the car as it is
until I decide what to do (if anything). In one way, it would be nice
to keep it as a nice original example of an early NA.
Not quite sure about your comment on sporty tyres (fun != grip - not
sure about the != characters). Are you saying that more grip is more
fun, or less fun (less tail-out driving)?

Ian14 degrees ignition advance, and the best tyres you can afford, together with a good wheel alignment (Dave Samson at Chamberlains did mine)
