Drivers Day in Taupo

Post by DBM58 » Thu Feb 16, 2006 10:17 am

Hello John

Try this:

Driver Training Day Taupo

20-May-2006 Interest for this day will be high, and because of the location

we are looking forward to seeing a lot members from all over the North

Island and maybe even hopefully from the South Island. There may need to be

a limit on cars (around 50) from a practical and safety point.

A deposit will be required when booking for this event commences in the new

year. You will also be required to sign an indemnity form against claims of

damage and/or liability.

This event is open to current members and MX5's only. We are also

encouraging those who do not wish to do the driver training to still attend

to enjoy the day.

Accomodation arrangements are in the process of being finalised, more

details to follow.

Please note this is a driver training day, NOT racing and is strongly

recommended as a new dimension in understanding, not only your MX5, but any

car in road handling...a MUST!

See you all there, driver training or not.

I am planning to drive down from Auckland on Saturday morning, have breakfast
in Matamata then be at the Centennial Raceway around 9:30am. If there was a
group that wanted to drive down together then perhaps a suitable meeting place
would be Burger King Mount Wellington.

Thank you for your help

Best regards

A flyer will be included with the next issue of Top Down, due out sometime
next week I think. Cheques should be made payable to me, with lots of zeros
before the decimal point. I can then deduct my huge administration fee and
write another and much smaller cheque of $75 value to "MX5 Club of New Zealand
(Inc)".

Let's go completely mad and say that we will leave at 6am, Saturday 20 May,
from Burger King Mount Wellington. The more the merrier. Those with turbos can
leave at 6:15am.

Hi all,

Just to let those of you who are unable to attend the Bay of Islands Run this
weekend know that the committee has organised a fun run for next Sunday the
26th heading to Puhoi - please see the website for full details.

Friday Joke:

Five Germans in an Audi Quattro arrive at the Italian border. The
Italian Customs Officer stops them and tells them
"It'sa illegala to putta 5 people in a Quattro."

"Vot do you mean it's illegal?" asks the German driver. "Quattro
meansa four" replies the Italian official.

"Quattro is just ze name of ze fokken automobile" the Germans says
unbelievingly. "Look at ze dam papers: ze car is designed to karry 5
persons."

"You canta pulla thata one on me-aa!" replies the Italian customs
officer.
"Quattro meansa four. You have five-a people ina your car and
thereforea youarra breaking da law."

The German driver replies angrily, "You idiot! Call zhour supervisor
over. I vant to speak to someone viz more intelligence!"

"Sorry" responds the Italian officer, "He can'ta come. He'sa busy
with a 2 guys in a Fiat Uno."

Have a nice weekend everyone :O)

Drivers Day in Taupo

Post by DBM58 » Fri Feb 17, 2006 12:03 pm

I imagine that just as with all event of this type, the organisers task is
made easier by having (full) payment in as early as possible. The flyer that
will be in the next Top Down has a portion that can be cut off and returned
with your payment.

For those who wish to take part in the day and who are not Club members, my
understanding is that in order to satisfy the conditions of our Public
Liability insurance (and this is required by the owners of Centennial Park
Raceway), only Club members can take part - and obviously only driving their
MX5s. However, all is not lost, the link below will take you to the Club
membership page.

The question of accomodation has also been discussed and their is the option
of a block booking at one of the local hotels. As is common practice, they
will require payment before the event to secure the rooms. It is always
difficult to co-ordinate such a large group with regard to accomodation so I
think that whilst the option will be offered, it will be up to individuals to
confirm with the hotel their requirements - or not as the case may be. Details
