Water leakage

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Mazda mx5 convertible. I have a problem with water
leakage from the rear of the hood. Water fills the troughs at the rear of the
doors and overflows into the car. The car is parked on a forward sloping
driveway. The outlet tube appears only to be at the rear of the trough. The
trough overflows at the front and water goes inside the car.

Can anyone throw any light on fixing this problem?

Hi Theorrs

There are two drain holes just on the inside of the hood just behind the
door. One each side. These are probably blocked. They can be cleaned
with something flixable. I use curtain wire. If you can not find the
hole from the top you should be able to see a rubber tube under the car
just inside the sill. You can poush something up that and clean it that
way . You should get t flood of water down the tube when it is cleaned.
Someone on th elist may be a ble to give a better description of the
location of the drain holes.

kidding.The outlet tubes you refer to are probably blocked. To unblock these
use a soft hose or something similar [not wire as this may damage them] to
force out the built up gunk, then run the garden hose through them to make
sure they're clear, they should discharge just forward of the rear wheels.

Hi thanks for your quick reply

I have cleaned out the drain holes and still the problem persistes. the
water actually flows over the front edge of the trough.

Is there any other reason this could be happening ?

Any info is greatly apperciated
