Letter to the Minister

Post by MadMaz » Thu Feb 09, 2006 12:17 pm

Hi to all who've put their name to the letter to the Minister of Transport
Safety David Parker,

Just in response to a couple of queiries about the need to include your
address. No there's no need to include a physical address at this stage by
anyone who put their name on the letter or by anyone who might yet do so.

I know from previous experience that all a Parliamentary Minister requires
is just one postal address to authenticate an approach by letter or e-mail
even with other people's names on it. So I'll provide my address.

They know from their experience that if you're prepared to do that, you can
and will be able to authenticate the names on your letter if asked. The more
names the better - it makes them nervous.

I'll be signing off the e-mail letter to David Parker with:

Mark O'Sullivan, PO Box 940 Pukekohe, South Auckland 1800
then each additional name pledged listed after that
...
...
...

I'll post the letter on the list on Sunday exactly as I'll e-mail it to the
Minister, with all the names pledged at that time, just before I fire it
off. It'll be very interesting to see what his response is - but be
patient - it usually takes a while.

Cheers & Thanks
Mark

Hi Grant

Just caught your message before I hit the sack.

Will do and that brings the total to 11 people all up - that's more than
enought to light a fire under Dave Parker - thanks Grant.

Cheers

and Ian.

Many thanks for your support with the letter to the Minister of Transport
Safety. There's 19 names now on the letter to David Parker! This level of
support from a small forum in such a short time is amazing.

Demonstrates high calibre.

Letter to the Minister

Post by MadMaz » Fri Feb 10, 2006 6:53 pm

Re: Letter to the MinisterThanks Colin

Here it is as it will sent to the Minister:

Hon David Parker
Minister of Transport Saftey
12th February 2006

Dear Minister

It's becoming more widely known, by the day, that the government fuel and road
tax take is not being spent in proper proportion on roading improvements, nor
is it being spent in proper proportion on road safety programmes such as early
driver education.

We would like to know why this is the case and if you are planning to rectify
this situation.

As fuel prices increase, we know your tax take increases, because we are well
aware that the tax take is a fixed proportion of the overall fuel price at the
pump. We would like to know what you are doing with the extra money.

We await your swift reply with expectation.

Regards

Mark O'Sullivan P.O. Box 940 Pukekohe, South Auckland 1800
(then each name pledged placed here in a column)

Re: Letter to the MinisterHi Anthony

Many thanks & will do - and thanks for your support.

You're right about wanting to know what the government is doing with all the
extra money - we're talking about a large amount of extra tax revenue as fuel
prices on the average continue to rise. Consider the amount of petrol and
diesel that's purchased annually in New Zealand. Even for a small country, it
still quite a bit.

Cheers
