Hi all,
Personally, when a club or organisation doesn't have a forum (only a list) I
am put off joining and usually don't. However, a forum is easy to browse
and search at leisure and doesn't intrude on work email etc.
So at the other end of the stick - I wonder how many potential MX5 club
members have been passed by/scared off by this? From personal experience, a
mailing list is generally considered 'archaic' in terms of communication
technology on the internet.
Perhaps a good compromise is to keep the list as is, but ask the miata.net
(http://forum.miata.net/vb/) forum admin if they don't mind adding a 'New
Zealand' message board to their forums (under 'communities') that NZ members
may use or not use at their leisure!
Since it is only one message board, you can easily subscribe to that board
and receive emails whenever someone posts - which makes it almost identical
to the mailing list at present (except that you have to visit the forum to
reply).
My 2c,
Peter
