Removing/Disconnecting an old alarm

Post by drew74 » Mon Aug 01, 2011 10:51 pm

Hey all,

I have an old Remac alarm in my 91 NA6C and I want to disconnect the bugger!! Unsure of model as it came with the car, but it seems fairly basic.

We've been away for about a month and returned to find the battery flat, so I took the battery out and charged it, but now the alarm seems to have immobilised the car completely.

I found a thread that said to remove the fuse for 5 seconds, then switch the ignition on/off 10 times to reset, but no luck with that, so thinking it's just going to be easier to disconnect the thing completely.

I've had a bit of a google and found some basic instructions, but nothing specific to Remac. Wondering if anyone here has dealt with/to one of them before? What wires should I look for to disconnect, etc?

I just want to get the car started again!! Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks guys!

if its old it will usually have a relay to immobilise
take out the relay and run a jumper wire
