Electrical Blue Connector

Post by brentweaver » Sat Oct 04, 2008 10:57 am

Good morning all.
Under the bonnet on the left hand side about midway between the firewall and the radiator, there is a BLUE connector that becomes live through the key. It is a three pin connector, my problem is in the months we have had the car in pieces, which terminal has the wire in it and is it the male or female pin on the wire, I had been told it was for the diagnostic machine that is plugged in to the diagnostic module, as the battery is in the boot it gave a place for a feed. Our local workshop man says this is not so as their machine is self powered. Can anyone throw some light on this, it would be great. Mandraki does not show the fine detail on this.
Cheers brent

Don't have my car here so can't check or test sorry, but my memory says it has 3 pins (on my 94). Might be different for different models. I'm pretty sure one of the male pins is powered on Ignition (or aux - not sure...)

Attached is a pic stolen from this site:
http://www.rivercityroad.com/garage/timing.html
and one grabbed from here:
http://mymiata.paladinmicro.com/Miata4-WireO2.htm

This should show you which is powered - although this only shows a single pin connector as sprsta mentioned.

There is also mention of it here:
http://www.miata.net/garage/ignition.html

Can you possibly test with a multimeter/test light etc?
