Has anyone checked the VIRM for lighting requirements to find a way around this? ;) I'm sure there will be a loophole allowing removal of some lights

after a lot of careful thought, I decided that as I don't currently have an overheating problem and that it has been raining quite heavily at times (intakes would let in a certain amount of water during rain driving) I decided to instead go the route of putting in some new lenses.

here's a mid swap photo to show a comparison between the new and the original lens...

and here's how they look with both in..

now that I have a good set in use, I can use the old one to muck around making a set of turn signal intakes.

Very nice. Have you thought about tinting the tail lights also? It would go well with the red/black theme you currently have.

indeed, it would look pretty swish....

I will look into it after I have acquired a few other parts on my "do want nao!" list. Thank you for the suggestion :)

A can of VHT Niteshades is all you'll need.

I am cautious about using nightshades simply because the LTSA website states in regard to tinting:
It is illegal to apply any kind of tint film, tint paint or opaque sticker to any lamp which has a function other than decoration (eg non-cosmetic).
and as I do not want any potential problems with the police I am checking out the legality of these:

Agreed. I managed to cut off an evo who was speeding on the motorway but I couldn't see him because he tinted ALL his lights (to the point they were pointless), including the brake lights. Don't really rate his chances if he brakes in front of a.truck/bus...

yeah, tinting when done in moderation looks great but its because of braindead numbnuts like the evo you mentioned that cause the legislators to put blanket bans on things...
