Is screwing into the dash possible?

Post by MrGrey » Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:49 am

Hello,
I currently have my GPS mounted via the windscreen sucker but would prefer to mount it directly to the dash so that it is less obtrusive. The image I have attached to this post shows the area I would like to screw into (the red X's mark the screw holes and the blue is the shape of the bracket... the circle is simply to highlight the area in question)

What is behind there? can I screw into the dash at that area and not shag anything hiding behind it? is it made of a strong enough material for me to screw into? ( I assume its just plastic with a padded cover layer?)

I realize it would make permanent holes in the dash but I don't mind. Thanks in advance for any input/feedback :D
