MX5 ND1 Power Windows

Post by CraigCannon » Tue Aug 13, 2024 5:24 pm

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum so thanks for any replies in advance.

My wife's 2017 ND1 1.5lt had the usual window regulator cable issue so was ordered and replaced. Once it was reinstalled I tested the drive and I can get the assembly to drive down but not up. I disconnected the drive motor and the mechanism winds under movement of the worm gear, so no issues with the mechanics.

The motor on it's own connected drives in one direction but not the other. I have metered the plug and I get +12v on the pin going down, I assume I should get -12v in the opposite direction of the switch but I get 0v?

I have tried the window reset and it makes no difference. I've not dropped the battery as a lot of random posts say to, but the feed back never seems to make a difference and I have the +12v plus the mix of other voltages.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had had this issue, it's not the drivers door lock out switch and the drivers door will also not drive the motor in the up direction.

From looking at a few wiring diagrams it looks like the power pin should toggle 12v + and - and the left and right switch look like they have individual control over the passenger window.

I was wondering if anyone has an answer to why both switches don't work in the up direction and if it is the switches both need replacing or is the passenger one a slave so the drivers door is the one to go for?

The only thing I have not tried is to manually rig up a 12v DC supply and try both way around to rule out the motor? But I am assuming that the motor is monitored due to the additional 4 cables of 5v and 11.8v?

Thanks for any help and advise.
