NB Tophats on NA

Post by JaredH » Wed Nov 05, 2014 6:50 am

Anyone have suggestions on fitting NB top hats to NA? They are for my coil overs, have seen the FCM kits but not wanting to drop that much $$

They did not come with top hats, so i am using stock na one. From what I can work out, I will be able to get at least 10mm lower with the nb tops whilst keeping springs captive (car isn't anywhere near slammed, just wanting more option for adjust meant to play with setups)

I picked some up from mazda yesterday, really just wondering what bushings you are using to make them fit as the shaft is too short to use the standard nb parts

You need a custom shoulder nut to locate the tophat, bush and shock shaft correctly, just get something machined up.

na strutts wont fit NB mounts witout a special nut. the NB strutts have a longer threaded section than the NA. NA strutts dont poke through enough to get the nut on.
the only way to make them fit is to use a custom nut that drops down inside the NB mount. the NB mount needs to be drilled to suit. some people have used machined and tapped M20 cap screws and some have used special long shank wheel nuts.

I have used a standard low profile locking nut on two cars and they work fine.
