you need at least a 225 on an 8" rim if you want a cert
unless you can get documentation from the tyre manufacturer to say that its recomended for the rim width
according to the LVVTA schedual a 195 45 15 will only be certified on a 7.5" rim

When i got bounced back on my cert for 195/45 on a 15x8 i found out that nankang ns2's in 195/50-15 are allowed by the manufacturer on an 8"wide rim. Also my friend who owns a tyre shop found another brand which allows that fitment, will find out which one it is.

Wow thats stupid personally i think a 195 looks perfect on a 8" but if thats the rules might have to do a low profile 225 or something

So if I change to a wide wheel then they need to be certed as well?

LVV certification is not required provided that the wheels:
-are a known and reputable brand non-OE item; and
-would be considered an appropriate fitment for the vehicle type by the wheel manufacturer; and
-are not modified; and
-spacers or adapters are not fitted.

From this document here.

Otherwise, however, LVV certification is required, and if you decide to change your wheels to a different width after certification you'll need to get it re-certified with the new wheels.
