I took a couple of pounds (Just under a kg) off the standard steel flywheel.
You can't go too light as it is only cast steel though...

I would get a wheel alignment, check tyre pressures and check the tune of the engine. That would be the cheapest option and give you a good starting point. Then look at other options from there.
