89/90 problem
Tony, there were a couple of links in the archives of this list. (crank nose or similar subject) I've got photos of the keyway from Fletchers old engine - will have to post them sometime... This test shown to me by Fletcher checks for excessive crank keyway damage 1. Remove spark plugs 2. put oil di...

Legalities of aftermarket springs on a rainy Wednesday
back to this discussion for a bit of mid-week debate :) This is the conclusion I have come to after talking to a few people including AA technical support, two different LTSA people, various police people, and a lawyer in a pear tree... 1. cutting springs is NOT illegal 2. installing aftermarket spr...

I've got a document from mazda showing the actual changes with diagrams etc of the S-VT. I'll put it on the club site when I can, or in the club mag. Got photos also from BBT and the pre-release at John Andrew Mazda last week. Headlights are not noticeable unless you compare the two - just a differe...

Hot Rod
It wasn't mentioned in the original email, but john bought the car with the shocks installed. I have no idea what his budget is. Of course - buying springs is a better option if you have the money - but I still maintain cutting the springs is a viable solution budgetwise. Just giving people options....

There are 3 perch settings on Konis. Ways to fix height are a) set the front higher by one or even two perches (will raise overall stance obviously) b) change the springs (all round - not just back) c) get rear springs cut lower c) do a combination. Mine with Konis sits lower at the front also - It ...

no - just lightly tinted perspex - designed to increase the coolometer
I'll probably replace it with clear now though, or leave it off altogether.
Just got a copy of some parts of the NZ Transport Act 1962 - will post
findings once I know more. I thought I might write a nice letter.

yup - $200 for no front plate mounted to the car. He didn't like the nice cover over the rear plate either - but the same cop (well traffic security guard really) had given us a couple of warnings earlier. He lives nearby and it was a bit of a personal crusade for him I think. Not upset - just venti...

I've asked Mazda/Ford Recently. They are no longer stocking the older model touch up paints - they do stock the current models however - and if the red is the same, they will have it. ----- Voodoo Gary Said: ----- John, I would try Mazda, and see if they can supply you with a factory touch-up bottle...

How about someone writes a short article about alignment? with possibly - a few paragraphs describing what alignment does and what each setting changes - some suggested alignment settings to start with - some web links to other peoples alignment settings or articles - some alignment specialists in N...
Colour
my thoughts would be to dispense with the colour code, and go to a place that can mix to an exact colour. I'd take something like a mudflap or mirror in to get then to match to it. The problem is also that if you mix to a code, the paint may have faded, and the new batch may not match. (try saying t...

MX-5 diff
Apparently parts can be had from an early RX-7 diff, however I doubt this would increase its power handling ability as they are very similar I believe. Ray have more knowledge of this - Ray? I think it would depend on exactly which diff it was that you had - also, I think there are weaker drive trai...

you could try gary (gary@mx5club.org.nz) he had a factory one - not sure whether he is going to Taupo or not. Speaking of Taupo - for everyone that is planning on going - it should be a bit more organised this year - the club has 3 pretty skilled people with motorsport backgrounds who have been with...

Check for worn crank keyway - there are faqs at miata.net and Fletcher B has posted to the US miatalist a few times on how to verify this problem by removing plugs and checking piston heights for top dead centre as shown on the timing marks. Ah ha. Your address must have come from their back issue purchaser list. MediaSource basically sent it to anyone that they could get an address for that they knew previously had got the magazine. I've never ordered a back issue however - so I'm still lost as to where my address came from. The club h...
