Miata Mag Sep 2000
I know that the club has not received their bulk supply of Miata Magazines yet, however, has anyone else received one? I got one in my Box yesterday direct from the States, and I'm not quite sure how - I've been posting info about the MCA/Mediasource dispute recently, but I haven't subscribed direct...

Manual
Hi Phil The 1.8 enthusiasts manual should to be available from Flying Pig at the club web site http://www.mx5club.org.nz/club/books/ $81 NZ I don't know anyone who has ordered one however, but I'm pretty sure it is available now - says it should ship in 10 days. If anyone has one or orders one, can ...

Repair Manual
I have Haynes manual - it is OK (some blatant errors, and lots of generic stuff) - I'm told enthusiasts manual is better. Haynes has excellent wiring diagrams for M1 models however, which I believe the others lack. IMHO the best repair info can be gained from the internet and other club members... ;...

leaky windows :(
I'm not sure exactly where you mean it is leaking, but apparently you can pull the rubber top seals out of their guides, loosen the screws that hold the guides to the frame, and push them in the direction of the window. You then tighten up the screws again and push the rubber back into the track. I ...

Does anyone have a spare helmet?
If you can't find one - i'm sure you can borrow one from someone on the day.
I'll have one you can borrow for a few laps. Not sure of the size though.

Petrol octane (was Re: Rear Mud Flaps)
Tj, I've been putting 96 in it, but due to current rising petrol prices I've switched to 91 and found the car sluggish. Which should I be putting in it? You can put either in, but you may need to change the timing to match. I use 91 and have my timing set to 14 above TDC(top dead center). My 94 is ...

Tyres in Hamilton - Cheap - 2 days only!
This from Alison Harold and Gary Wood in Hamilton if anyone is interested. Bob Jane T-mart is apparantly going out of business. Gary's contacts are at http://www.mx5club.org.nz/waikato/ and if you talk nicely to him he said he wouldn't mind picking some up. Here is the list of tyres Bob Jane T-mart ...

This lists a proposed fix (from a guy who works for loctite!)
for a broken crank keyway and was posted only a few days ago.

Shocks
Just recenttly bought Koni adjustables for my 94. Set them on the middle perch but need to raise them on to the highest position at the front as it sits too low with the springs I use. They have a very noticeable improvement in response than the stock shocks (or my ones anyway) and once I get the al...

Door speakers
Bill, I'd probably have to see it. Email me off list if you're in Auckland. I'm not sure what the stock mounting brackets look like. I didn't use any mounting brackets for my 6.5"s and I drilled one hole in the door frame, 2 others lined up well. My previous speakers were aftermarket anyway however,...

double hoop rollbars (was kw rating)
Debra You could try Mazline ph 0800 626 323 They have a double hoop that is easy to install and reasonably solid for $325+GST+Freight It still just attaches to the seat belt towers, and is definately no where near as solid or as tall as a full roll bar setup, but you could talk to Mazline or an inst...

console
could fading be an issue? Charles Lynch said Mazda only ever made it in one colour, so it should be the right one. Have you seen the center consol that the Mazda dealer is selling? What he calls dark grey, you might call black. It could be that the salesman you spoke to might have looked up the wron...

Door speakers
how major is major? there are a number of options if you don't mind drilling a hole or two. Usually you have to spend more to get proper replacement speakers with the correct hole locations. I'd recommend 6.5" for size - they fit usually with minimal surgery (depending on speaker), and bigger is alm...

Red Touch-up Paint
Well - don't tell anyone, but I do minor touch ups with a black waterproof marker pen. Works great on Blacks, but looks a bit funny on reds. ;) I have had touch up paint made up before by a local panelbeaters, and I keep it in the fridge. Seems to make it last a bit longer. He just popped a tiny bit...
