Is the same true of Sebrang superchargers? It looks as though I will need a bit more power to keep up with Gazza in his new white machine.

I have found that Ross always replies to my emails - perhaps not within the hour though. I think that his mobile telephone number has changed from that listed in Top Down, from 025 306 364 to 0274 306 364.

Bridgestone GR80 or GIII

I am quite happy with the Grid IIIs that Owen fitted - although he did say that after looking at the Kelly variants that he took off, I did not drive the car hard at all. However, Nicky recently went to have Grid IIIs put on her car and Owen convinced her to try another type that he preferred. She d...

Fuel consumption

Yes you are correct. I did not do enough checking, it should be around 12 litres per 100km (but 8km per litre).   David Moughtin -----Original Message----- From: Ian [mailto:mx5talk@mx5forum.co.nz] Sent: Sunday, 25 June 2006 7:38 p.m. To: mx5talk@mx5forum.co.nz Subject: [MX5] Re: Fuel consumption DB...

I have a 1991 Na with the Sebrang supercharger fitted by MazdaSpeed. My average economy rate is around 380km per tank (23mpg or 8 litres per 100km). The type of friving is largely Auckland commuting.

Adjustable suspension

I recently drove to the Drivers's training day in Taupo, from Auckland. My suspension was set at the hardest setting. For the trip home I changed it to the softest. Obviously it has made a significant difference to the harshness of the ride and at this stage, I will leave it this way. I would be int...

Actually, with countersunk screws at the back to keep the flat surface, I think that your idea is better. On the other hand, we are men, we build fires and bridges, big ones, by using as many tools as possible - if our wives will let us buy them.

That is absolutely true, I just thought that the final finished appearance is more suitable with the cap screw heads visible and not the threads.

Front number plate mount

I recently bought a front number plate mount bracket from Ross at MX5 Mart. He pointed out that a big problem with them is that because the two mounting screws face backwards, it only takes a small amount of force (such as somebody reversing into you) to push the number plate backwards, pressing the...

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

With regard to the two hoses from the rocker cover, how would you tell if there was a tiny hole, or is it easier to just replace them?

And the heated oxygen sensor, where did you buy yours from, and where did you take the power wire from?

Thanks

Regards

David

I listen in to

http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/sscor/

the Sebring supercharger owner's registry. A bit of a mouthful, but a US based forum on that revolves around superchargers.

I do not know about its automotive application, but Forman Insulation on Vestey Drive. Mount Wellington offer a range of foam rubber type material with reflective foil on one side, self-adhesive on the other. It may be called Armaflex, or Formashield and is available in sheets of varying thicknesses...

Cold air induction / buzz

Not that I really have any idea, but what happened to the metal bracket that secured the fluid line (I don't know its name) to the panel above the firewall. When I did mine, this bracket was fixed directly in the space that I cut the large hole from. I did not re-attach it, just slid it out of the w...

Leaving CDs in player unit when car is not in use

In the old days it was recommended to remove tapes from the car cassette player whilst the car was not in use. I thought that it was to protect the tape from heat damage. On the other hand, it may have been an urban myth that I was foolish enough to believe. However, can anyon comment on whether thi...

Glenn identified a problem with the idle screw, and complete lack of adjustment. This has been fixed. Can you explain more about vaccuum leaks.

By the way, I do not mean to infer that Matt gave me a car with a problem, I was fully aware of it at the time. It has now come time to fix it.

Supercharger and fuel economy

I would be interested to hear what sort of fuel economy others are achieving in (NZ) cars fitted with a supercharger. Both around town and on the open road. I manage about 320km per tank around town.

Supercharger and fast idle

Late last year Matt Avery and I swapped cars meaning that I now drive a vivid yellow car loaded with all manner of MazdaSpeed extras, including a supercharger. As far as I can understand, the car has always had a problem with a fast idle, around 1500rpm, that a number of learned people have had a lo...

Non MX5 Radio - need suggestions please

I bought a Panasonic unit from Parallel Imports. The important requirements for me where that it was able to play MP3 files, and had a clock. I too know very little about these matters, but Gazza does, and he bought one too. I will send you the model number later. I think the cost was around $220. M...

2006 Drivers' Training Day in Taupo

Thanks to all involved in the organisation of the Drivers' Training Day in Taupo over the weekend. I cannot think of a better way to waste petrol. As an interesting footnote, I was talking to one of the flag Marshals who claimed that the Porsche GT cars are reaching 260km/h by the end of the straigh...

Best fully synthetic oil - Changing today

From conservative and uneducated point of view I bought a genuine Mazda filter, from Mazda, for $12.60. What did the Fram equivalent cost - not that I am interested in saving money on essentials such as an oil filter.

Thanks

98 octane petrol

Just trying out the new forum. In truth this is a re-post of a request I made to the email list.

Can anyone tell me which BP stations in Auckland offer 98 octane petrol. Or do they all and I am just not looking in the right place in the forecourt?

Thanks

Oil filter

Sound advice which I am intending to take. I have had a look back through emails on the subject and it has been sugested that the equivalent Fram filter is better than the original. Something about fluid flow I think. My main difficulty is that I would like to change my oil (with a Shell synthetic, ...
