The new NC must be tricky to drive.....
Kieth, Thank you for your very kind offer. We actually live in Whangaparaoa and Ann takes the car along East Coast Bays Rd daily to get to work. I was only driving it on Wednesday because I particularly wanted to use it later in the day so dropped Ann off. We are fairly well supplied with alternativ...

I think the thing was that she was braking hard and her tail was up, while I
was braking hard and my nose was down, so I went under rather than through,
probably the reason that we are still in one piece

The Accident
I sent a couple of emails to the list on this, following comments from some of you this morning, for whatever reason they have not appeared. The point to be noted about the photo in the Herald is that it shows her car plainly has its nose in the right hand lane and the tail in the left hand lane. My...

To be honest Glenn, I dont know, I was sitting in a Patrol car with a
Policeman at the time. but I think they just rolled it off.

Simon, you are absolutely correct, it was in the case of Lady Chatterley's Lover, however, you err in one respect, Lord Havers ruled that D. H. Lawrence's " Lady Chatterley's Lover" was not a pornographic book. Actually, it is a book I have never read, if anyone has a copy I would appreciate being a...

Great idea Glenn, trouble is that i just spent the best part of $800 getting
all of that done about 9 months ago, mind you, I might be able to swing a
top with a glass window, now there's a thought!

Firstly, thanks to everybody who sent their commiserations and good wishes. Ann & I have both come to the conclusion that we were very lucky! To answer the legal point raised by Chris Tankard; Yes, indeed, the law requires that you drive so as to be able to stop clear of the vehicle ahead, in the ev...

MX5 Crashworthiness
There has often been comment on the list regarding the crashworthiness of the MX5 I regret to say that I have just found out, the hard way, how good they are. Ann and I were travelling down East Coast Bays Rd this morning, behind a Mitsubishi Diamante, coming to the lights at Rangitoto College. Abou...

Yes, I can recommend Tim, he did some work on the zip on my hood, prompt,
well priced and he looked like he did good work, based on what I saw in his
shop.
Worth a look

odo readings
There is, I believe, far more notice taken of Odo readings now, at initial certification, but I would never rely on an odometer reading anyway. It is far better to make your own assessment of the accuracy of the reading by such things as the general condition of the car relative to it's age, whether...

It's surprising what you can find out on the web. The Tiger Moth I talk about below DID fly again! It was ZK-CDU and, although it took a long time to rebuild, it now lives in a museum in Ashburton. However, after being rebuilt, it has the distinction of being used to set a World Record for the World...

Back in the late 60s, about 1967, we used to launch gliders off Ardmore using a winch, the rate of climb was betwen 2 & 3000 feet per minute, we would get to 1000 feet before release, it was an incredible ride. It used a special hook, below the belly of the glider, which tended to pitch the nose up ...

Is anyone out there?
This seems to be the Sunday sport. We recently followed a couple of youths down Whangaparaoa Rd and watched them throw water bombs at cars coming in the other direction. Whilst discussing this with Police on *555, we were witnesses to them throwing one into a Triumph Herald Convertible, which prompt...

The list seems to be very quiet!
In fact I have not received any email for three days, which is most unususal.
It occurs to me that I may have a problem. Can someone send me an email so I
know it is working
Thanks

Did you scroll down through the comments as far as the silver car with purple stripes, that's another stunning piece of kit! Do you not think that a set of clear tail lights would do a little for the rear of the car, It actually looks quite "stock" as it is, but that colour is fabulous! Eric From ji...

Yes, I quite like that, I actually do not have too much of a problem with the wing, or the wheels, in the context of the look of the car, I don't know that the aerodynamic effect of the wing would be much of an advantage and I'll bet the ride is hard as hell, It probably looks better than it handles...

With our 5 coming up on 100,000 Km, I am starting to think about the timing
belt, and I will probably do the water pump at the same time.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to other items I should sensibly do while
the front of the engine is in bits.

Our car,PURLEE is a 94 with the standard factory alloy wheels, I have never really found anything that cleaned the wheels easily, and the best I had found to date was a Mothers product in a spray pump bottle, but it still needed a toothbrush to really start to get the wheels clean. I ran out, so wen...

Second Hand NC for Sale
With regard to the handbrake, the car is obviously going to sell far more
units in the good old US of A than it will in right hand drive countries, the
lever is correct for left hand drive.
It is, however a real pain in the bum on a right hand drive car
