Ouch, they seem to be quite random. Have had people get things in over $400 and not get stung with GST.

Here's a quick run down on the conversion costs The stock clutch will handle the power (just) if in good condition And the stock radiator will be fine too, if it's a street car If you plan to take it to the track - then you'll have to upgrade to an alloy radiator - they're cheaper than a standard o...

AJCS is a race series I'm looking at with my 1.8, but to start with I'm keen on entering the SuperLap Series. Its not a racing series per-se, rather a time attack series. But I figured its as good a place as any for a decent shake down of the car and get a taste for competition without the risk of d...

Oh it was YOU! haha I was going to look at that car the afternoon that you purchased it. :P I pulled cash out straight away and was a pushy prick lol, didn't want to miss out on the deal. It does need the driveshaft replaced/rebuilt, which is proving to be painful to find a 1.8 one.. Is out of bala...

Yep Papamoeziz has the right idea. Some bargains can be had if you hunt around on the Facebook groups for long enough. I picked up a blue 90' 1.6 NA for 2k a few months ago, done 250,000 k's. Little rough around the edges but a good buy nonetheless. Then I got lucky and bought a 93' 1.8 NA for 3k ju...

PM'd you with Dropbox link. Its a shame it was on my mobile, DSLR went flat because I forgot to bring the charger from Auckland..

From memory you caught the rear first, they beefed up the hay bales after that day as thats where most of the cars were starting to push it.

Heres the link if you want it, its unlisted so only people who get the link can see it, let me know if you don't want it up though. http://youtu.be/2ddaRC_hp_E That was a brutal section though, a few cars definitely got caught by it, saw the 1200 coupe nearly end up in the...

Really? Catalytic converters will be pretty much useless at this point of life in the car, and I doubt they made that much of a difference on the Mx5's.

Do it with a new one, or if you can wait a little bit IIRC they do an improved one in the states thats aftermarket, it won't corrode on you.

I've done this with the engine in the car, its a prick of a job, do it properly while its easy or you'll be swearing away for a few hours while you do it again.

The 280mm? Plenty of those around if you go 5x100, I had a set of 282's on my Mk3 GTI. You'd feel tingles when you stood on the brake pedal.

Mk3 Golfs - The non GTI/VR6 versions come with 256mm rotors on the front with 4x100 and tend to run stock offsets very similar to the MX5, but I imagine they're a different headache due to being made for FWD?

Legal in MX5's I'm pretty sure, they're only illegal in cars that have rear seats and only 2 doors.

Yeah might have to get some myself, got a short shifter in the car and sometimes shifting is a bit notchy compared to my last two MX5's, mind you I haven't done the gearbox oil. That made a huge difference on my last blue one, it wouldn't shift to 2nd when cold unless you double clutched, after chan...

You don't need flares, depends on what offset you are running on the wheels, I am running 225's on 8's and about to fit on some 245's on 9 for the rear. Ah that gives me hope. Goal is to start tracking the car and ultimately take on the Superlap NZ series. Has plenty of grip at the moment, but once...
