Found it!!!!! Had a new clutch fitted a couple of months ago, the mechanic hadn't bolted on a small bracket that supports the wiring loom to the corner of the bellhousing, the bracket had gradually rotated round the loom till it was resting on a small 'shelf' below the clutch master cylinder. Which ...

I have a seperate small rattle from the glove box, so I know it's not that, have already removed the cat, so not that either! Plus you cant hear it from outside/under the car, just inside, seems to be coming from almost right under drivers feet! Arrrgghhh!

Dash rattle

91 NA, recently developed a nasty rattle that sounds like it's coming from the dash, around the steering column/instrument panel. It's a light, mettalic rattle. I've pulled the dash shroud and instrument cluster, plus the plastic 'skirt' piece under the steering column, plus the centre console, ster...

Getting the old bushes out of the control arms etc with a blowlamp, get the temp just right and they slide right out! one lower rear to do. Might leave the diff ones alone.....can't imagine the benefits are that great.....

Diff mounts

In the middle of fitting Energy Suspension bushes all round to my 91 NA6, the kit included new diff mounts, looks like a complete arsehole of a job to fit them, diff out etc What are the likely benefits of urethane mounts for the diff? Worth the effort? I dont have access to a hoist, so work on the ...

Tonneau Cover

Anyone throw some light on where the (slightly) elaticated straps at the bottom of the tonneau cover are supposed to attach? Only logical place seems to be round the roof frame hoops, but that means diconnecting them before raising the roof, if they were connected to the parcel shelf somewhere, it w...

They are for fitting a full tonneau cover, the sort that can be left in place over the passenger side, with an opening for the driver. Was it a brg car? Might be my old one.....

Peter,
Sorry, but the situation got critical last night, barely made it home, slipping badly, so it's booked into local Helensville garage for them to supply and fit a clutch tomorrow. Hope you can restock ok.....

Hi Peter, I'll likely just go for a standard one, Supercharger is going to run over 4k for the kit alone, without getting into upgraded headers etc, so not really justifiable! I'll pick up as I work in Swanson. Can you recommend anyone to do the fitting out west? I'd do it myself, but dont have acce...

Is there a reasonably priced source of supercharger kits in NZ? Looking for the basic Jackson Racing E45 one. Trying to avoid importing from US.

Clutch

My clutch is about to give up the ghost, it's been biting at the top of the pedal travel for months and I noticed a little slipping this evening. Couple of questions... I've got the tools and knowledge to do the job, but no access to a hoist or pit, is it feasible to swap the clutch out with the car...

Geometry set up

Having just fitted lowered shocks and springs, 15" wheels and front and rear braces to my NA, I want to get the geometry checked/set up. Is this something that can be done by any competent tyre shop, or does it need a real specialist? Either way, any recommendations? Ideally Henderson/West Auckland.

Just found a really neat looking 3 window top on ebay (search under daveshouze) plastic windows, but will give similar 3/4 rear view as my hardtop. The thing I dislike about the stock top is the limited 3/4 vision and that'll likely be worse still with glass as the opening is smaller I think

glass vs plastic window

About to order a new hood from UK, choice of glass or plastic window....I don't have any wiring for demister, so that advantage doesnt count. What other pros and cons should guide my choice?

NA/NB Exhaust compatibility

Anyone know if an NB twin outlet exhaust end section will fit onto an NA? There's one on TradeMe at the moment I'll grab if I know it's a fairly straightforward fitting exercise. (Please be kind and dont go grabbing it yourself!)
