side mudguard indicators

I need to replace a bulb in the side indicators. There is a a groove in the metal surround and using a screw driver doesn't appear to release the glass.
Obviously I'm not using the correct procedure. Would appreciate guidance from the more experienced.
Thanks

Engine revs at idle

I'd like some assistance to diagnose an issue. Once the engine is warm and sitting at the lights the engine revs will suddenly increase by 250-300 revs for about 45-60 sec and then drop back to normal idle speed. I've let the car sit for an extended period and the situation will repeat itself. What ...

Hard Top compatibility

I like my hardtop. It could be an age thing. In winter its warm and on long trips the car is quieter. Also believe the car looks “better” with the hard top. Mine is colour matched. It’s easy to remove so one can get the best of both worlds. Interesting that Mazda’s latest MX5 can be purchased with a...

Toyo Proxes PX4 & Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE001

Fitted a set to the MX5 and very impressed with their performance. Cheaper than the top of the range proxes ($160 each balanced & fitted). Advised by the supplier have better wear and after a trip Wgtn to Tauranga retn was impressed with low road noise and handling.

Recommendation: Sony Stereo Unit

I recently replaced the original Pioneer setup in the MX5. Fitted a Sony CDX GT460u and can thoroughly recommend it. Comes with an auxilary and USB port for connecting a MP3 player, ipod or using a flash drive instead of CD for one's personalised music collection. Price on special $273 from Repco. :D

Oil Pressure Gauges

My understanding is that the pre 1991/2 MX5s had an oil gauge that recorded actual the pressure. The later 1.8 MX5s have a gauge that simply reflects pressure is ok similar to an oil pressure light. I presume this is what is meant by a binary gauge.

Tyre Rub

I recently replaced my alloy wheels and find that on full left hand lock I get tyre rub against the suspension arm. Doesn't occur on right hand lock. The rim offset is 38mm so there should be plenty of clearance. I probably need to get the setup checked by a suspension expert but would like any advi...

Guardian are a cheaper tyre produced by Firestone, generally for urban, around town use. Wouldn't have thought suitable for an MX5.

NO Front number Plate

I'm curious. Are you referring to having no front number plate OR subsituting the number plate with a stick-on. Following a number of other MX5ers I had a sign writer scan my existing number and reduce it to 85% and have positioned it just below the Mazda symbol. So far no problems. Was advised to k...

Bill
Given that many member report a similar fault of broken mirrors would you
share how you repaired the mirror. I suspect that I will have the problem at
some time.
One aspect of the list that I find extremely valuable is the advice provided
on making repairs to "wear and tear" factors.
