Quite a lot of discussion about idle droop on the UK Forum. (www.mx5ocforum.co.uk) Solutions include spraying injector cleaner into the air inlet (remove the air filter) to cleaning out the idle air control valve. A worn throttle body is another suspect, but replacement is very expensive.

You can simply remove the plastic number plate from the big, ugly plinth and stick it back on with velcro or double sided adhesive tape. Here in the UK, I had a smaller plate made up (3" x 9"), affixed by velcro (so that I can take it off for shows) and have had no bother with The Bill.

Thanks, Sez - much appreciated. In fact we went to a wedding on Waiheke 18 months ago - lovely island. I'll contact Waiheke Auto Rentals to see if they know of a similar hirer in Aucky. Glad you found the joys of 5 ownership - have a great life with your car in lovely Kiwiland :D

MX-5 Car Hire

Greetings Kiwi 5ers, from a UK resident, visiting your wonderful country later this year, staying in Auckland :D Does anybody know of a car rental company that hires out MK1s or MK2s? Many thanks, in anticipation.
