Basic is good. Too many bells and whistles detracts from the driving experience
Shane. Do you ever take the centre pad out of your steering wheel for the "racing wheel" look? That's the fastest way to soup up the interior on an NA!

is it ok to store the soft top folded?

Hi Nic, Good (and sensible) question. It's not recommended to leave your soft top in the lowered position for long periods of time, the fold which occurs on the window (presume you have an NA with a plastic window) becomes a weak point eventually and reduces the life expectancy. If you don't want to...

I'm with SLYDIT, like #1 but with #2 font, no problem with the headlights though, they are cool 8)

Not to be a SITM but should something relating to the forum be pre-approved by the big Z? I noticed he hasn't posted anything as yet....

Also, anyone in the Nelson area keep an eye out for MX FVE, a 1999 anniversary car, this is the ex president of the Nat Club and he's just moved to the area, am sure he and his wife would be chuffed to get a wave when they are out and about in the 5.

Mr Revhead, congrats on your first post! I like the drive through the Motueka valley down to Lake Rotoiti and then back through Woodbourne and Blenheim, a bit longer but a nice ride on a sunny day. The road back to Nelson is great too... Don't feel bad your GF has a cooler ride than you, if you're n...

I have similar to sprsta but mine's on the other side (and the plate is still straight not nicely angled). My NA was the same but interestingly I had to get a new holder when I changed to the facelifted NB as the "mouth" was a different shape. If you are interested in my old one I could dig it out, ...

Hi, I do but live in HB otherwise you'd be welcome to try it out. If it's any help the back of the seat measures about 820 mm if sitting straight, I like mine tilted a little so it measures 840mm to the top.

Weird noise #1 - could be your bonnet catch? If you haven't already tried it put some insulating tape around the catch and see if that fixes it. For some reason the sound travels and seems like its inside the dash. Alternatively it could just be a rattly glovebox door?

Winter race series at Manfeild 5th of August

Hi all, One of the subscribers to MX-5 Club facebook page has mentioned this race series: "MX5 Racing NZ had their second round of the 4 part Winter series at Manfeild on the weekend. 6 cars took to the track, and put on a great show. Next round of the series is August 5th at Manfeild. We welcome al...

dash rattle

Hi,
Could be your bonnet rattling - it often sounds like its coming from somewhere else. Try winding some tape around the catch and see if that makes any difference. Good luck :P

Low Fuel Light?

Hi,   NA's don't have a low fuel light, but as a guide I can get away with the needle being slightly under the "E" before having to refill (think this leaves about 5 litres).   The "light" above the fuel gauge - can anyone correct me on this actually being the defrost light for a hardtop rear glass ...

Hi Renesis, The J-Limited yellow colour is correct, but you are right about the V-Limited interior, maybe it was specified by the original buyer? It maybe that the car was originally green, so perhaps if you look in the engine bay or inside the boot you may find green paint. Have a look on the insid...

Turanzas are touring tyres, they are quiet and good for long trips by slow, safe drivers who don't mind looking naff. I must have fit the category. Apparently Owen knew just what I needed, even tho I spent 3 weeks reading up on all the options, talking to other club members, and thinking about what ...

Transit Lanes

Just wondering if anyone knows what the story is re transit lanes? The sign says 3 people per car can use a transit lane but how does it work if you only have two seats? Are you deemed able to use the lane if you have a passenger in an MX5? Just one of those odd thoughts you have whilst sitting in t...
