IIRC the best fix on miata.net for the "60 mph shimmy" is to balance the wheels with the rounding off - ie to the nearest gram rather than the usual nearest 5g. A Suby water-air intercooler from one of the older Legacy's is pretty hard to go past for value :) If you're in Auckland you could swing by and check out the (uninstalled) one I have if you like. Fuel consumption... looooong post
resident fuel efficiency nerd checking in ! Some thoughts: - power mods tend to affect fuel efficiency (negatively!) - cold weather affects FE also. As does cold starts. It takes the oil about twice as long as the water to get up to temp, so in winter it might be 10+ min before its all warmed up. I...

Wideband options
I was using the AEM UEGO wideband (as was "poison") which has a digital reading and a pseudo-analog display, as well as providing an input for the ECU. Only drawback is the reading is a bit laggy (as they all are) , but if you can find a long enough road it doesnt matter :) They do boosty gauges too...

Cold-air intake for track days
from the manufacturer's perspective, warm air is good - the engine will warm up faster and fuel atomisation is better. Both good for emissions and fuel economy ratings. And most normal people never wring every last hp out of it ;) but for max power, yeah cold *dense* air is clearly better. Experim...

pretty much any 3rd party replacement which is at least as thick as the 2 core automatic radiator will do. That the stock one was engineered down to minimum weight and tends to block fairly easily didnt help it much , then again they didn't have aftermarket turbo kits in mind ;) The silverdale place...

it had a knock sensor, wideband o2, link ecu and lived like that for years. So it might've done a smidge better on 95 or whatever, but it obviously was close-ish, but not too close to the edge. Basically the FM tune with about 5* added back in . Definitely not one of those super-retarded (literally)...
