Hub-centric spacers
I am wanting to put 25mm spacers on my car (I understand that they would need to have a cert) and was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions.
- does anyone know of a supplier of good quality spacers at a reasonable price? (no point wasting money on a set that will not pass a cert)
- is T6061 Aluminium or 2024 Alluminium the best material to go for?
- what is the size of the hub on the mx5? (eg hondas are 56.1mm)
- how much of a noticeable effect would spacers have on my car's handling?

I had a quick look at this yesterday actually. Hub bore is 54.1mm (based on what's advertised for miata/mx5, could be wrong though)
Some of the options I found (all overseas, local might be cheaper esp. once shipping included):
http://www.kgsengineering.com/store/p/4 ... pacer.html
http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Pe ... 0886C.html
http://www.suspensionshop.co.uk/_c34910 ... 24~200.htm
Effect on handling should be minimal - same as a wheel with that offset, although you are introducing more unsprung weight, and an extra point of failure / bit that needs to not wobble, so quality is important.

Also from what i can tell the main effect of increasing offset is changing the scrub radius:
With +45mm offset mx5's are at roughly 0 scrub radius. The more scrub radius the greater steering effort, more road shock transmitted through steering, and can increase the steering's sensitivity to braking inputs. These effects are pretty subtle though, esp at the small offset changes we're talking, and aren't necessarily good or bad - they could be viewed as giving more "feel" for what the wheels are doing, or viewed as "undesirable" feedback hiding other "desirable" feedback.
I imagine it's the kind of stuff I'd be entirely oblivious to & wouldn't even notice if I tried...

I had a set made by Znoelli for Hayleys car.

They are hubcentric and also wheelcentric so you dont need extra hubcentric rings.
They aren't as cheap as the Chinese ones but they are very good quality
