94 1.8 cat?

Post by gazthedoc » Wed Nov 09, 2011 11:56 am

Sorry have searched but am a bit 'tarded. Just got a 94 1.8 eunos roadster, my first mx-5, its awesome! Obviously tires are a go first, got quoted 190 fitted for bridgestones re001 from tonys. Does my car have a cat? If so have people just hacked it out and gone for a straight bit of pipe through there, can't afford a new exhaust at the moment, also what induction kits are people using and which has the best bang-for-buck,
cheers

Just ripping out the cat on the stock exhaust won't do much besides mean you might not get a WOF your better off saving and getting some headers and a nice free flow exhaust or 2.5" straight pipe
As for the intake just get a pod filter does the same job as any other more expensive intake
just get a 90* bend attach the maf and pod then your good to go
Heres a pic

sorry just saw its a 94
you mite not be able to fit that setup because of your pop up headlights but the shorter the pipe the better when it comes to the intake track

Both of our mx's have had the cat removed & never been an issue yet with WOF's

A whole new exhaust will sound different...just removing the cat made my NA slightly louder.Minor improvement in performance but mostly in the mind! :D

Took out the factory headers/exhaust & put in a turbo & tuned manifold with 2.5 in exhaust & had a happy ending :D

It is just a road car but I have a m45 supercharger and all the bits that will be going in to the car in the next few months....once I have all the other things done first eg exhaust etc

Just take the cat out and put an expansion box in its place...it will be fine.

Just get a fab shop like these guys to make you a header

then just straight pipe with a resonator and it'll sound sweet
