Sport Compact Mag - Link ECU

Does anyone have a copy of the March 01 issue of Sport Compact Car magazine I can borrow, please? (It has a report on a Link ECU fitted to a naturally aspirated MX5.)

Sport Compact Mag - Link ECU

miataforum.com has a few writeups on this subject ... think the final outcome was lots more midrange torque and another ~10% up top... this was probably with the AFM removal tho. (you have race regs to follow right?)

Ian, if you find a copy of the article I wouldn't mind seeing it as well. I am running a Link LEM V5 on my normally aspirated 1800. Finally fired it up last Friday night (its only taken 2 years ..... ) and although it hasn't been tuned yet the short run up the road felt really good.

Cheers
Euen

Thanks guys...for the input.

Had already searched miata net, somewhat unsuccessfully plus spoken to Flyin Miata on the subject.

No, am not bound by race regs, as such, but if I want to run in the classic section of the Cant Car Club race meetings, I need to steer clear of forced induction. In saying that, I am heartened by my cars progress, and having watched Dean Wong's mildly modified (engine) car at Ruapuna, I am convinced that a well driven road reg naturally aspirated MX5 with 150bhp could do similar lap times, and be within a second or so of a Pro 7 car.

A little more suspension and brake development, some added lightness plus a rocket up the driver's b.., should do the trick I figure! Will invest in some driver training this year. Others who have done so, report up to 2 secs a lap improvement in their times!

Euen, will keep you posted.

Cheers, Ian

PS anyone got some aftermarkey sway bars gathering dust in their garage?? :)

i beleive that "miatapower.net" had lots of guys who knew the link inside and out.....but im not sure if the forum is still going. It was definitly THE place to go for link tuning advice.

also id very seriously look at getting yourself an NB 1800 engine as the heads are much better flowing than the NA ones...

I'm still here, and I still have the Link ECU with FM software...

Anything you'd like to know? :)

I'm running no AFM, ported and compression bumped head, cams, adjustable cam-gears, ported throttle body, and headers for about 20-25 extra HP on a 1.6

Fletch.
