Jared/TeamJelly- SC14 Supercharger Kit questions

Post by Timmo » Wed Mar 30, 2016 3:48 pm

Hi- I was going to just send an email but thought it would be good to have the thread/info on here for future reference etc.

a) Can you post some pictures of the kit installed please?

b) Can you supply the parts as a kit, with a MS loaded with a base tune? (the idea to save money by installing myself, driving it down your way to get the final dyno tune)- If so, cost?

Cheers

Hi
Will do.
I sold my Supercharged MX5 a while back
But have purchased another NA6, and my engineer is making up another batch of Supercharger brackets/tensioners, cross-over pipes etc
So will add some photos in the next few weeks
Been having a lot of success with the AEM Water injection kits - so will be using these to control the air temps rather than a intercooler kit
The old intercooler arrangement was fairly efficient - but ends up having a huge plenum size- so does affect the start up and off throttle rpm speed.
Plus it's cheaper, easier to install and actually more effective to run Water injection
The B6 will actually run fine without any form of charge cooling , I did this for years- but can't really be used effectively at the track, as the intake temps get out of control after a couple of laps - but fine for a streetcar

We can sell the kits as parts only and also supply injectors, plug and play ECU's etc for the setup

SC14 Supercharger Kit

Post by Teamjelly » Wed Apr 27, 2016 6:50 pm

as promised here's some pics of the newly redesigned supercharger kit.
Got the Miata back from my engineer and he's done an awesome job of it all. And everything is now jigged up ready for production
It's only for the B6 1600 engine - and Air con can't be run - but hey if it's hot enough just put the roof down I reckon
If anyone is interested I can put up a complete parts/price list

Awesome, thank you.
Yes please, if you can send a parts list and, if possible, a list of recommended supporting parts (i.e. Radiator, HD Clutch etc?) that would be awesome sauce.

Here's a quick run down on the conversion costs
The stock clutch will handle the power (just) if in good condition
And the stock radiator will be fine too, if it's a street car
If you plan to take it to the track - then you'll have to upgrade to an alloy radiator - they're cheaper than a standard one - so that's a no brainer.

MAZDA NA6 Supercharger Kit
-----------------------------------------------------------
Megasquirt ECU, Installation, Dynotune - Flat Rate
includes Injector installation $1800
Injectors 440cc - New $320
Sc14 Supercharger - Used $450
Throttle cable - extended - Used $30
Supercharger Belt 6pk 1420 - New $40
Air Filter and Adaptor - New $85
Tensioner Bearings - x4 - New $125
RESOURCE ENGINEERING: Manufacture Supercharger Brackets, Tensioners, Idlers, Inlet and outlet manifolds, Crossover pipe, Throttle relocation and brackets - and install kit. $750
TOTAL $3600
Optional Extras:
Water injection kit - AEM 30-3300 $750
Installation and setup of Water injection kit $250
Driveshaft loop - supplied and Installed $225
Exedy Heavy duty Clutch - supplied and Installed $725
Launch Control / Flatshift Feature in ECU and Vehicle $75
Powercoat Manifolds, Piping, Brackets etc $175 estimate

Will be dynotuning it next week - so will post up the results

Is that pricelist roughly the same for NA8 since there isn't a huge difference in them?

Unfortunately when it comes to the supercharger kit
The NA8 is totally different, the mounts are different, throttlebody is different, the manifold has different angles etc
So none of the kit will bolt up.
We can do one for the NA8 but would have to be a total custom affair.
So of course will be more expensive
On the 1800 we normally recommend a turbo, as they just respond so well.
And with a little TD04L turbo - they come on boost pretty much off idle so has the same response as a supercharger.
