link ecu not sure what version yet. battery negative was lose under closer inspection the terminal is split some one over tightened it and it lent forward and split.

hooked up another battery with leads got it to fire and run for a few seconds before it died again, now even hooked upto a running car it turns over with no spark and fires every few times.

next step is to beef up the battery ground to the chassis and replace the negative terminal. so gutted :(

FUCK CARS

yup the quickest way to kill coils is bad grounds. it causes the internal voltage in the coil to skyrocket and blow them.

mine has a dodgy power steering pump, and all of a sudden is running pig rich even though the data logs are normal. keeps flooding when hot starting.

i like my power steering . drove a manual rack and hated it...worse than my old Fiat 124 coupe... as i said all the logs come back normal. fuel pressure normal etc etc . can't be effed with it at the moment. serious case of no love for the mx5. oh and those little jobs are just the tip of the iceberg....cambelt... gearbox rebuild, suspension bushes...diff replacement....ECU upgrade...soft top replacement....repaint....... the list goes on and on at the moment.

Haha, you two be glad you haven't experienced 90's VW ownership, a standard car with a tonne of head bashingly frustrating problems.

And a prick to work on.

yea man thanks for reminding me.

it was many small things but is now running.

bad battery, bad grounds, bad plugs. apparently something to do with odd ignition voltage was cause immobilizer to cut spark but not all the time.

$340 later ( new battery better grounds and a hours work) and it runs like a dream, although it only has a downpipe coming out at the passengers ass so this makes it sound like a 600hp track car so i got some odd looks at the gas station today. you can hear the wastegate open out the down pipe sounds trippy

will post a video soon, rest of exhaust being attached on Sunday.
