Mazda 323 GTX PCV valve

Post by warrior » Mon Sep 09, 2013 6:05 pm

I am after a mazda 323 gtx pcv valve (the one that goes into the rocker cover) I have contacted mazda NZ but without a rego number they are not much help.

I am going to install in on my supercharged car and it is ment to give another 1psi.

Does any one know where I can get one from or do the have a part number for one?

Any help would be great.

There was an auction on that's just finished for some gtx gtr parts. Lister was robbie324. You could try tracking him down.

Can I ask how this is meant to give you another psi?

Probably helps to prevent loss of inlet manifold pressure rather than gaining boost psi!?

Yeah that's correct, the pcv valve in the mx5 is not designed to handle boost, the 323 GTX which is a direct fit is.

So it just increases your crank case pressure?

Probably to some degree as I think it has a stronger spring in it.When I had my turbo'd high mileage engine I ran it without a pcv valve, blanked off the manifold and put a filter on the rocker cover so that it was VTA & there was no way the boost pressure could by-pass the pcv valve increasing internal blow-by.

This helped to prevent rear main seal oil leaks, back pressure in the oil drain from the turbo which was causing oil to burn through the turbo seals to the exhaust and oil to drip from the turbo by the oil drain flange.

With my new engine its back to normal apart from a filter on the left front rocker cover exit.

Apparently exactly the same valve but just with a heavier spring. I wouldn't have thought the standard one would lose you one psi though, but then I have done zero reading on superchargers.

Oh and from Fastforward:

From what I have read it will be 0.5-1psi and for $35.00 it is cheap power

I have fitted this but have not driven the car yet, I also replaced the rubber grommet that it fits into and it was very loose compaired to the new one.

I will report back once I have driven it and let you guys know if I can feel or see any improvement on the boost gauge.

First drive today, the gauge shows a 0.8 psi rise getting up to 1psi sometimes. The car pulls a bit better and I am very happy with the result for the $35.00 spent.

Now to fit the larger crank pulley for another 2psi!!!!
