how was the chateu at labour weekend?

A great weekend was had by all attendees I suspect. We South Islanders
certainly enjoyed ourselves!
Very well organised so thanks to all the hard workers that made it all
happen so well. The weather was not the kindest on Saturday and Monday, but
Sunday trip in to Turangi and the gymkhana enjoyed a fine day. Thoroughly
enjoyed the gymkhana and need to find a suitable area here in Blenheim for a
local club get together.
We all met a lot of great friendly people (of course they were as they own
MX5s!).
The ball was a definite high point and congratulations to the organisers
again for managing to get all the riff raff dressed up in their finery. They
got me to wear a tie for the first time in very nearly 30 years The last
time was at my wedding!
Start saving the pennies now for the next rally in two years time, you won't
regret attending wherever and whatever form it takes.
The next one in two years time could well be a trip from North Cape to Bluff
as put forward some time ago. A celebration of the 20th birthday of the MX5.
This could be a charity run with the finish in Wellington for a big party!
Very much in the thinking about it stage and the club executive will have a
lot of thinking to do before the plan is finalised! Caryl and I will be
joining the run for the whole trip. What a way to see a lot of the country.
If this doesn't happen then the rally could be in Blenheim. We were talked
in to saying we would do it. Just think of the wonderful roads we have here
in Marlborough and of course the wineries and good food.
If the North Cape to Bluff trip does happen then the rally in Blenheim could
be in four years time. Nothing's set in stone yet though.

Grant and Caryl.

Might have to go on the Snowball Run ourselves next year. Pity the ferry
adds such a lot to the budget though. Couldn't go last year as it was my
Mother in Law's 70th birthday so thought I should attend that.

The ferry???? You mean there is a ferry to get to The Chateau.... LOL... I never knew that, and do you still need a passport to get south of Taupo?

From the organisers point of view the weekend went very well. We didn't get the best weather, but it didn't dampen (sic) the weekend. All vehicles were given a chilly bag with lots of goodies inside including travel rug and petrol voucher. The issue we had with holding it at the Chateau, is that there isn't too much to see and do without travelling some distance. However the drive to the Whakapapa and Turoa skifields was a highlight, although bleeding cold for the photo shoot at Turoa. The quiz and karaoke on saturday night was a hit, as was the (disco) ball on sunday night. We gave out a lot of prizes for all sorts of events and misdemeanors including one for a certain club member who is a police officer. He managed to run into the rear of another member while driving through Turangi. Gary, you need to stop waving to the crumpet (at least 70 years old) on the side of the road. His excuse was he thought the car in front was terroists and he was ramming them off the road
Bronwyn, Murray and I enjoyed organising this event. It certainly helped keeping everyone together at the one venue for the weekend. The members from Christchurch were amazed that only the three of us organized the whole weekend. Murray and I aknowledged that Bronwyn did by far the most work - registrations and the Chateau organizing keeping her very busy.
Bronwyn is already talking about next years Snowball, but I think Murray doesn't want to know about it untill after Xmas. My next weekend event to organise is the Camping weekend in February

Hi Nigel

No problem with a link to the photos. Anyone can rummage around any of the
albums if they wish, with the risk of getting bored quite quickly!
Most of the photos are Caryl's.
If you ever want a high quality version of anything on there, let me know
and I can send it to you. We keep them all on DVD here.
