need help urgently before my hair comes out

:x :x :x :x :x :x

hi every body i have recently bought an mx5 and i have fully serviced it including all filters plugs leads, however i am wanting to know why it is running like crap

the symtoms are in the cold morning it will take a few cranks till it starts not first pop. it has to think about its idle for a few seconds

but mainly has a flat spot just off idle and if you stall it sometimes it wont start for as long as 5 minutes and can be imbaressing if you give it full throttle it some times starts. i relize i may have more than 1 problem

any ideas or starting points on these

I had issues with stale fuel. Simple job to replace fuel filter and disconnect fuel line and then pump fuel out and replace.

Check your bypass hoses arent blocked. They control your idle air controll valve which im pretty sure has an automatic choke. It started. I had a similar problem and later in life it started overheating. after siezing my engine i found they were packed with old rusty water.

Have you noticed a increase in fuel use? if so check your o2 sensor/s depending on age of mx5.

I got some oil on mine a few months back and had similar problems just with mega fuel consumption and stuttering in the early rpm range.

I just cleaned mine with a singlet and all was fine after but they are cheapish and easy to swap out anyway.

I've been having similar issues. Suspect shitty battery or oxygen sensor. Plugs are 3000kms old. Guna pull them out today to see if they're covered in fucking rust again.

mate if i wasnt at home with the flu i would come around and have a look.

First thoughts are that the throttle body and idle valve need cleaning.
