Hot Pools Near Auckland

Post by GRUVBB » Sun Jul 20, 2014 9:29 am

I want to take some friends from overseas to the hot pools for an afternoon or evening of relaxation.... Which is the nicest facility out of the local options. The choices are as I believe....Miranda. Parakai or Waiwera.... I have not been to any tor about 20 years so would appreciate any feed back either good or bad from anyone who has been in more recent times????? Thanks in advance.

People poo-poo Parakai but last time I went (a year ago) it wasn't bad, fairly quiet compared to Waiwera. Can't say anything about Miranda as I've never been.

I can recommend going during a weekday, no screaming snivelling kids to deal with :D

Palm springs is a pool across the road from the main parakai pools. It was a bit run down but always quieter thN the big pool. It has been refurbished recently so i do t know what its like now. They used to have a naturist night on a thursday i think with optional cossies, if thats your thing.

Hot pools on the way to Tauranga might be Okoroire Hot Springs. Alfa Romeo Owners Club used to go there every year during the 90's (showing my age), but I never went myself.
