Again..
Starting one of these,
People like sheds which is awesome!

Image
We started with hiring a shitty little thing close the pukekohe track hairpin..
Image
Then brought this
Image
Guess that's the biggest comparison shot I have,
Always have been to busy to stop and take pictures as we go.
Image
Can see what we've done there, taken the ceiling back, was the lounge but now storage,
Lets in a Lot more light, which was what we're after,
as much natural light as possible,
The right hand side wall was taken back too, to the door, there was a box steel pole there, but we had that moved to the far wall side.

Image
This picture above, there was a low ceiling, about 200mm,
we de nailed up, lifted it then gibbed everything with the fire proof gib.

And that's what we're up to now.
Finish that wall,
Sand and paint the floor,
Finalize there machines and benches go..

Yup.

For anyone building up a workshop there are a couple of factors to consider if installing fluorescent lighting.
Use a twin fitting as you get stroboscopic effect from a single tube. That is like a timing light. The lamp can flicker at a frequency which around moving machinery can make it appear stationary. Critical around lathes, drilling machines, mills and other rotating equipment. Same if one of the tubes has failed in a twin fitting. The twin fittings illuminate the lamps out of synch with each other to overcome this. Another way is to have an incandescent lamp running at same time.
Fluro lamps also come in a variety of different colours depending on the Kelvin Temperature rating of them. This dictates which section of the light spectrum they radiate. Different tasks require a different light.
Be aware that the new energy saving lamps that fit into a conventional light fitting are actually miniature fluro lamps.

Modern compact fluorescent lamps (energy savers) use an electronic ballast which has a much higher frequency than the magnetic ballasts used in old fluorescent tubes, which substantially reduces the stroboscopic effects.

be very careful of fluoro's all together ESPECIALLY if you plan of having the good ol workshop radio. some fittings kill your radio reception. check before purchase if they pass the RFI test.
