Hello, sadly my 5 is my daily driver but I just wanted to comment that you have chosen a good car to see the sights of NZ in. good luck in your hunt and enjoy yourself while you are over here. :D

Not to be a negative person, but if you get up to Northland, please always keep your valuables safe on your person and lock your vehicle when unattended. We (sadly) have a very small amount of people who are scumbags and prey on tourists unattended vehicles. But don't worry, the vast majority of people here are good trustworthy folk its only a small group of losers that make us look bad. Most thefts tend to occur in 'out of the way' places like at the beach but if you play it safe you will have nothing to worry about.

Enjoy your stay, be safe and have fun!

There is a rental co in Auckland with mx5 for rent. Situated in Beach Rd? Can not recall name offhand. They copied same paint job as on my car.

Hi Gerstein..welcome and i would highly recommend hiring a car in the South Island where the scenery and weather will be the BEST place to spend two weeks in an MX5! :D

Wideopen throttle holds an extremely valid point! The south island is beautiful!

Again, have fun in NZ and as MrGrey said, in Northland 90% of the people you meet are super friendly, it's the 10% that you don't meet that are scum.

Bear in mind that we are moving into winter climate now.
Could be seriously inclement so don't forget some warm clothes and wet weather gear

I'm down in the south island and still driving with the roof off. Wear a hat and you're fine.

What's more, black ice or snow on the road plus limited slip dif = major fun!

Because RWD is ALWAYS more fun
