Hi all,

My partner Jacqui and I (Brent) have just bought an MX5. It's a 1990 1.6L, red with a black hardtop (it's in the garage section of this site).

Anyway I imagine we'll end up joining the MX5 club and getting along to some drives when we can, and look forward to meeting other mx5 owners!

All the best,
Brent and Jacqui

Welcome Brent and Jacqui.
The Kapiti chapter of the club is the one that's active locally. Runs are usually the third Sunday of the month.
Website is at http://www.kapitimx5.itgo.com/
Hope to see you around soon.
Cheers

Brent - welcome to the world of MX5 owners.

Regarding the Kapiti MX5 chapter website;

I have to say that as an IT security guy I really hate websites that try to install software on your PC when you enter them, which is what happened when I just tried that Kapiti MX5 site. It's not a nice introduction IMHO.
It just took me at least 10 clicks to get rid of all the pop-ups and advert rubbish. I won't be going back there again

Interestingly enough it did it with FF as well, but thanks for the tip on the add-ons, I'll take a look at those.
I assume that that rubbish comes from the hosting company.

It is hosted on one of those free web thingies with a site building tool
which is obviously where all the popup adverts come from.

Don't forget that not everyone is in IT guy... I'm impressed that
someone there has spent the time to put something together for the
Kapiti group. (Was it you mike?) I didn't know you had something online.

cheers Z

PS... I can provide hosting space for this if you wanted to have popup
free space. Maybe even run it from http://kapiti.mx5club.org.nz/ if you
wanted. No cost, but some learning may be involved (as there won't be a
simple site builder tool)... pm me if interested.

I'd be more than happy to lend a hand with the site admin. :D

It might even inspire me to get my A into G and join the Kapiti chapter (which I really should do anyway)

Thank you.

I've emailed Tony about the Lake Ferry run this Sunday so hopefully we'll see some of you there.

We went along to the Lake Ferry run today and were made to feel welcome by Tony and Sandra, Harry and Lorraine and Callum.

Unfortunately we didn't get as far as Lake Ferry as the weather was pretty ropey (hardtops donned by all) however we did have a good drive through the backblocks of Silverstream, Belmont Hills, over Haywards Hill, to Pauatahanui where we had a bite and a chat at the Lighthouse Cinema Cafe before heading home.

Attached some photos of the drive.

With all the roadworks going on here (Tga and Mount) it's virtually impossible to even get to 30kph
Going to work (from the Mount to Tga over the harbour bridge) used to take me 10 minutes. Now it takes 20, sometimes even longer :?
