As for uniqueness, I am aware of only two other S-Special cars in NZ,
both are 1600's. If this is not correct, please let me know
FWIW, Mine is a 1.8L 1994 S-Special. In black though, not laguna.

Haha!!

Both replied at the same time! That's pretty funny! I always put "soaps"
or "clothing" or something on the label - I think it's pretty dumb that they
ask you to spoil the surprise by writing the contents on the label! I mean,
it's a gift, for pete's sake - you're not supposed to know what's in there!

Hope you weren't too disappointed to miss out on the soap - should I send
some next time ..?!! :-)

Ciao

Hi Mike, if your car is a 1.6 and has a red roadster badge, then it has
been re badged. The roadster colour does not indicate whether the car is a
Special or Limited edition but rather the engine size ande type. Refer
following article that was in Topdown last year Feb/March 2004. If your var
is a 1992 1.6l the roadster badge should be black.

Hope this helps Nigel

What does that Badge mean??

Have you ever noticed that some cars have a different colour in the
"Roadster" badge on the rear of the car.

Yes they do !! and if you know your colours you can tell a lot about the
car.

BLACK - all 1.6 Litre cars(1989 to 1993/94) have black as the colour
of the "Roadster" script inside the chrome badge on the rear

RED - The early1.8 Litre (1993/94) cars had the
"Roadster" script changed to red.

GREEN - August 1995 saw the introduction of the 133bhp Series II
1.8 - litre engine which featured a 16 bit ECU (Electronic Control Unit) and
a lightweight flywheel to let the engine rev more easily. The 4.3:1 final -
drive ratio was bought back on the 5 speed cars and the "Roadster" script
changed to Green

As a general rule of thumb - if the car has electric rear vision mirrors (
heavier stems) then it is a 1.8 Litre, but as a lot of the Limited edition
cars have manual rear vision mirrors, you need to also check the "Roadster"
script colour!

Hi Mike, In 1992 the S Special was produced in Classic Red or Brilliant
Black, featured uprated suspension with bilstein shocks, front strut brace
14in BBS wheels, Nardi 3 spoke leather rimmed steering wheel, Nardi gear
knob, Stainless tread plates and speaker surounds. The 1992 S Special was
produced in 1600 so would have had black Raodster badge on the back not red.
The S Special was not limited to a set number as was the S Ltd which was a
run of 1000 and had red leather interior and only came in Black.

The Laguna Metalic Blue S Special was never produced in1600, only came out
in 1993, was 1800 and not limited to number produced.
